"Aye, lil girl!" Sabrina heard as she was quickly making her way to the double doors that would lead her to the fresh air of the world. She didn't wanna spend any more time in this school than she had to.

She turned around and saw Devin at his locker pulling his gray hoodie down over his head.

Devin White was 6'3 with caramel skin and a short haircut. No waves, just a fade, and he still looked good, he still could easily pull girls. But he had no girl yet, surprisingly. Only girl that came close to that category was Sabrina, his best friend.

She walked over to him with a jacket hanging over her arm and her book bag on her back. "What did you just call me? I done told you about that." She playfully smiled while trying to be upset.

"You heard me." He closed his locker and threw his book bag over his shoulder. "Why you running off so fast like you got somewhere to be?" He lifted a brow.

Sabrina sucked her teeth and looked him up and down. "Why you gotta know ?"

"Cause I ain't seen or heard a word from you all day. Can I know something?" He said, walking with her to exit the building.

She shrugged, "I'm going to New York on Sunday. My grandmother on my mom's side is having a mini family reunion so that the fam can know each other."

Sabrina Clemons stood at 5'6 with chocolate skin that reminded everyone of Tika Sumpter. She was kind to everyone and rarely snapped on people but don't underestimate her because of her nice nature.

"Word?" Devin's walking slowed down as he turned his head to her.

She nodded while still looking forward, "yep."

"How long you staying out there?"

"A week."

He sighed, "damn."

A growing grin appeared on Sabrina's face as she walked out the front door which Devin held open for her.

"You gonna miss me ain't you?" She teased.

He smacked his lips and playfully gave her a light push. "Nah, ain't nobody gone miss yo ugly ass."

She took her bottom lip in between her teeth and punched him hard in the shoulder.

"Shit, you ain't have to hit me. You gone cause a scene damnit."

"Oh what, you don't want all your peers to see you getting your ass beat by a girl?" She poked out her lip and he pushed her again.

By the shocked look on her face you could tell what her next move was gonna be, but it was interrupted.

"Hey Devin," some chick came up to them and was eying Devin in a sexy way.

"Wassup, Amber right?" He responded

"Ambernese, but you can call me Amber if you want." She smirked.

Sabrina rolled her eyes in the other direction. Everyday, every fucking day there's a new groupie in Devin's face and she was sick of him entertaining them back like they weren't basic hoes.

"Cool." He smirked looking her up and down.

Ambernese was about 5'4, light skin like Beyoncé, and long brown weave. Her natural hair was short. She had hips for days and no boobs.

There was a pause as they were just staring at each other, and Ambernese acting like she's shy by blushing and not making eye contact and unable to stand still.

Sabrina was just observing them. When she was looking at Amber, she saw that she was only interested in sex with Devin. And when she looked at Devin, she saw that he just wanted to hit as well. Body language says a lot.

"Well imma be at your game. But I was thinking we could talk some other time?" She said,

"Yeah, definitely."

She smiled and turned around, "have a good game."

When she was gone, Devin was just cheesing uncontrollably. Sabrina giggled, shook her head and walked off before giving him a disapproving look.

"You coming to my game, right?" He caught up to her and was walking near behind as she was searching for her mother's car.

"Yeah I'll be there."

He put his arm around her neck innocently. "Good, cause I need my best friend at every game to keep me focused. You my good luck charm."

She smiled. She felt special since he had made it clear before that when she was at the games, he played a lot better. So she tried her hardest to be at every game.

Sabrina finally found her mom in the school parking lot waiting for her. "I'll see you later bro."

He released his slight grip around her neck and made sure she got to the car safely.

Deep down inside, Sabrina had feelings for Devin but she didn't fully know it yet. She couldn't tell if Devin liked her since he never did anything that showed he was aiming to get out of the friend zone. On the outside they both were cool with the tight friendship they had. An unshakable bond.

The problem is sometimes we fail to see who our real soulmates are because we're scared to take that jump. Don't know what the other person might say or feel, so you both just stay behind the boundaries you were destined to cross.
