Sabrina's POV 💚

Since I woke up this morning I was shaking with sweaty hands from nervousness. I had a lot to get off my chest today.

I took my coat off and put the rest of my unneeded things in my locker and headed for Devin's locker.

When I first saw him emptying books into his locker, my heart skipped a beat and I could feel my soul smiling on the inside. One week apart felt like a whole year.

I lightly tapped on his shoulder, and for the first time in what seemed like a lifetime our eyes met.

"So how much did you miss me?" I joked with my hands on my hips.

He smiled and gave me a little hug, "a lot."

He went back to putting books in his locker. I was really expecting a better reaction than that.

"How was your trip?"

Why was this conversation getting awkward all of a sudden?

"Uhhh, it was very fun actually."

"Coo, glad you had fun."

I looked at him, trying to figure out if this was really Devin in front of me. I've never seen him being so dry and short with me.

"Why you acting like that?"

"Hey." A girl came up and wrapped his arm around Devin.

"Hey baby." He leaned down and gave her a deep kiss.

I was beyond hurt! I wanted to cry right then but I refused to show my pain. My throat felt like I had swallowed a huge slice of bread as I stood there allowing my heart to shatter to pieces.

Devin looked up at me, "oh Sabrina, you remember Ambernese."

I could barely respond, I was frozen trying to process what was happening in front of me. I nodded slowly.

And Ambernese of all females?

"My friend wants me to meet her in the bathroom, it's a hair emergency. So I will see you at lunch?" She said, gazing into his eyes.

Oh.

"Aight." He kissed her one last time and she walked away.

Devin looked at me like everything was cool.

"Ambernese? Really?" I said with an attitude.

"What?"

"You were just talking about hitting it then quitting it not too long ago, now y'all all hugged up?"

He shrugged, "a lot can change in a week."

I sighed and shifted my feet in frustration. "And what happened to me and you at lunch, huh?"

He closed his locker and swung his bag over his shoulder, "I mean, you can sit with us if you want to."

"Wow." My eyes teared up and I stepped back in shock.

"Look, I'll see you around. I gotta get to class." And he walked off leaving me alone feeling completely heartbroken.

How can someone just all of a sudden just change on you like that?

I didn't wanna tell anyone that I liked Devin. I kept my feelings private to prevent people from sticking their noses in my business, cause when that happens, everything becomes a mess.
