The Power of Words
"Overachiever."
"Show-off."
"Smarty-pants."
"Brainiac."
I hear all of these accusing names
Comparing them to myself
Wondering if I deserve any
If some are true or not
"Amazing."
"Wonderful."
"Delightful."
"Incredible."
Really?
Excessive superlatives going to my head
Making me modest
Possibly self-conscious
"Stupid."
"Immature."
"Reckless."
"Careless."
Dejected.
That's how I feel
Whenever these are spoken
Even if not towards me
I don't think
The power of words
Has ever truly been appreciated
Instead, it is constantly abused...
