Look Deeper (Surfacing)
Inside us
Each and every one of us
Something is growing
Something is changing
Something is shining
Unsure of what it is
We mask it
Hide it
We can't stand
The fear of being different
We don't want to be judged
We want to fit in
We act like something else
Something other than ourselves
We forget there was even something there
But no matter how we try
To hide what makes us ourselves
It will always be there
Deep inside
Waiting to be pulled out
We neglect it
Shove it back down
It sinks deeper
Becoming harder to see
Harder to find
So we must look deeper
Deeper than the masks we wear
The masks of who we say we are
They aren't necessarily true
They blind us
Look deeper
Reach farther in
For that special, shining thing
That makes us all unique
No matter how much we neglect or ignore it
We must let it surface
Let it become us
Become who we really are
Because who we say we are, sometimes
Isn't always who we really are inside
We hide our true selves
Because we think we'll never fit in
Truthfully, we're all puzzle pieces
With rough edges and exquisite designs
And truthfully, we all fit together perfectly
