Chapter 18: The Date

Nichole POV

I'm standing at the now open door, with a grin the size only a nervous idiot would be wearing.

"Riley!" I said doing my best to seem sincerely surprised and pleased, although I didn't have to put any extra effort into the Pleased part.

He smiled back seeming pleased with himself at the fact I was so "surprised". Glad that my reaction was successfully pulled off, I mentally patted myself in the back. Growing up with a house full of all guys makes you get good at bluffing and occasionally acting, and suddenly for once I was legitimately thankful for that. Realizing I was still standing there and just smiling I blushed and quickly tried my best to recover the awkwardness of the situation.

"I wasn't expecting to see you! It's such a good surprise. How are you here?" I said blushing as I continuing to tap into my inner actress.

"I wanted to see you again" he said and I couldn't help but notice how much I missed and loved his deep voice. There is something about a guy with deep voice that always pulls you in.

"Did I interrupt something? I'm sorry for just dropping in on you like this I should have called or something" he said as be babbled on a little and, started blushing from embarrassment.

I looked at him a little puzzled before I realized he was referring to the fact I was all dressed up and, I panicked a little inside as I tried to come up with a reason as to why I would be in a dress.

"My best friend and I were headed to town" I stated a little less confidently then I would have liked but he looked like he believed me but also looked a little disappointed.

"but she called and canceled on me so I was just going to go by myself." I finished and noticed his face lit back up a little.

"By your self?" he asked teasingly "That's no way to spend a day on the town" he said disapprovingly but with a smile that you could almost hear as he talked.

"I seem to also be spending the day without any company" he said confidently as he grabbed my hand "Would you be so kind as to join me for coffee and possibly an afternoon of wandering through shops?" he finished with a bow and placed a kiss on the back of my hand while waiting for my response.

I stood there speechless from the incredibly romantic and gentlemanly moment I had just experienced.

"I... I... uh... I... I would love to" I finally managed to get out as I stood there fiercely blushing and I began biting my bottom lip and twirling a lock of my hair with my fingers the way I always do when I'm nervous.

"Perfect" he said with a dazzling smile and then he leaned in a bit "I was hoping you would say yes. I have no back up plan when it comes to asking someone on a date since this is the first time I've tried." He said and it was then that I noticed the shy side of him as he admitted that to me.

I looked at him shocked. How is it possible that a man like this has not asked anyone on a date before? He noticed my shock and I could see him quickly trying to think of how to fix it. Clearly he was thinking that I was upset by what he had just told me but I held up my hand before he could say anything.

I have heard that in the werewolf community it's not uncommon for this type of situation to happen as most wolves wait for their mates, but him being the Alpha, people assume that this isn't usually the case so, this still somewhat unexpected news to me.

"You mean to tell me you have never been on a date?" I said my curiosity was peaked. I was feeling the need to really confirm this again.

I saw the confidence slowly melt into shy embarrassment as he nodded in reply. He is utterly adorable. How is this real I asked myself as I took in the full meaning of this situation? I smiled at him and grabbed my red hand bag.

"Well then we better get going" I said as I linked my arm in his and started towards his car, but not before noticing the relief come across his face.
