Nichole POV
———————————
As Lucy and I drove up to my house, we braced our selves attempting to prepare for the seemingly short dash to the door. The weather is progressively growing worse and we have got to get to a safer place then just a car. As if to confirm my thoughts a tree near by fell barely missing the car we were still sitting in and we took that as ambition to make the run. After making it into the house, making sure to secure the front door behind us, I was greeted by my father.
"Nichole is that you?" my father said and I could here the worry in his voice. He came around the corner and grabbed me into a big hug.
"Lucy" he said as he let me go. "I'm so glad that you two made it back safe. Lucy I called your family on the satellite phone and let them know you would be here with us. It's much to dangerous to go anywhere now" he said seriously.
"The boys are already in the basement, we need to get down there and secure the door. This storm is coming in fast" he instructed and we both nodded. I grabbed a few necessities and we headed down to the bunker.
As we all gathered together down in the basement at the entrance of the bunker we began hearing windows breaking upstairs and knew that the storm was now in full swing. We all hurried in and sealed the door. Once the seal was engaged it became early quiet and I decided to break the silence.
"Mason can you go find the blankets, flashlights and heaters?" I asked my oldest brother. He nodded and I turned to my father.
"Dad can you make sure the backup generator is in working order? I have no doubt we will need that very soon" and just as I finished my sentence as if it heard me the power cut off and we were left in the dark.
Mason came back with flashlights, blankets, and candles in hand and we all set out to make the place as comfy as possible. Soon the generator was on and we had light again.
3 days later we are still in the bunker. Feeling particularly restless after being cooped up in one place for so long I began to pace. After packing for a good ten minutes I threw my hands in the air with a big huff.
"Thats it I can't take it anymore. I'm going crazy down here" I yelled desperately as I leaned against the wall and slowly slid down to the floor with my head in my hands.
I don't know how much more of this I can take. The storm feels like it will never end. I felt an overwhelming feeling of depression and got up and began pacing back and forth again. Gardens are not meant to live in small spaces. We are meant to live in the open air. We are meant to go on adventures and discover things. We are not meant to live like birds in a cage. My wings are itching to be let out. My energy levels are through the roof right now. I want to get out of here and fly for hours. In fact there is nothing I want more at the moment. Nothing except for the chance to see Riley again. Just at the thought of him I could feel myself relax a little bit and a small smile spread across my face. The thought of him is the one thing that has kept me from losing my mind down here.
I sat wondering how he is and what he is doing right now. The islands haven't faced a storm like this in decades. I try not to worry. The wolves usually have a plan for everything. Always prepared for anything. Lets just hope this storm wasn't an exception. I took in a deep breath and forced the worry out of my head once more. This storm can't last forever.
