Trigger warning: He's in denial folks.

[unedited]

~Phil~

Phil lead the way away from their rooms once the three of them were dressed in their swim trunks. Phil wore a black shirt going with his black swim trunks which showed off his pale legs. A rather large dragon tattoo lay across the entire back of his calf. If Phil would've turned around he would see how Dan's eyes kept wandering down to the artistic design, but Phil was leading the way down to the all familiar lake.

They heard the lake before they saw it, walking down a trail in the woods, hearing yelling and laughing from the other campers as they got closer. Reaching the end of the path a grassy field lay between them and the sandy shore of the lake. Taken back by the sight Phil had to make sure he was seeing this correctly, a huge inflatable obstacle course sat on top of the water, it was brightly colored, the entrance was connected to the dock while the exit was on the opposite side of the lake where it looked like a barbeque?
"Is this here every year?" A voice asked from behind him, looking over his shoulder he saw Dan staring in awe. Phil genuinely smiled at the boy, he was so innocent, oh how Phil wanted to change that.
'Phil what the hell.' He yelled at himself in his head. Before answering the pastel boy.
"No they change most of the activities every year, but there are a few annual ones." Dan nodded in response, his eyes widened as if he realized something.
"I have to go find Caitlin, I'll be right back." Phil nodded not letting the disappointment show, he couldn't blame him, Phil wouldn't want to hang out with Phil either.

"You ask him out yet?" Tyler asked smirking making the punk's face turn bright red.
"Tyler! No. I'm straight." Tyler rose an eyebrow, "Mhm..."
Rolling his eyes Phil started walking down to the dock to get the instructions.

Dan never came back. Phil waited for a while before going on the obstacle course, and once he did, he didn't find the boy on the other side. Their lunch was the cookout the staff was making once you got to the other side, and Phil couldn't find Dan, Caitlin or even Lilith.
"Where do you think he went?" Phil questioned Tyler still scanning the crowd.
"You're in denial."
"What?" Phil looked at him confused.
"You, are in, denial." He stated again with a smile.
"I am not."
"Are you denying you're in denial?"
"Tyler that's not helping."

Eventually, Tyler went back to the room after half an hour of trying to get Phil to go with him. Phil was the last in the field, sitting on the soft grass watching the water, the staff cleaned up the obstacle course hours ago, and he was completely alone. Why did he care that Dan never came back? Why did it hurt when he thought Dan didn't like him? What was going on?

With a heavy sigh he rose off the ground.
Tyler's words in his head, was he in denial? Was he falling for Dan? He shook his head. He can't be gay, he wouldn't let himself do that, go through what everyone else did, he was strong.
"I'm straight. Heterosexual, 0% gay." Phil whispered to himself pacing back and forth in front of the lake.
"I'm as straight as Dan Howells hair..." He face palmed at himself for using that analogy.
"His natural hair maybe," a smug voice from behind him sounded making him jump slightly and turn to look at the intruder.
"Oh hi Caitlin..." Phil muttered looking back to the ground.

"Hello Phil, how goes the trying to convince yourself you're straight...?"
With an exasperated sigh Phil sat onto the dirt once again where Caitlin's sat beside him.
"That well huh?"
"Wait...you don't think I'm straight?"

Caitlin let out a laugh and shook her head. Phil glared causing her to apologize, "Sorry, I knew you weren't completely straight, that was part of the reason why I broke up with you, don't get me wrong I have nothing against people who like their own gender or whatever, I just wanted you to find out on your own and I wasn't helping, that and the whole long distance thing. Strange how we both ended up going separate ways."
"Where'd Dan go earlier?" Phil asked looking at his hands.
"What?" Caitlin asked in pure confusion, Phil looked up at her thinking this was a joke, her expression said it all, she was confused. "I thought he was with you all day." She said panic starting to creep in her voice.
"When we came here he said he had to find you, I haven't seen him since..." Both of the shared a look of panic before getting up.

Where was he?
