"So you are leaving your whole life, to provide you with a lot of money?" Henry scoffs, leaning off the tree.

We were now in the trees and he was sitting against a tree while I sit on a stump.

I didn't tell him the full story, how could I? So he's still a bit confused.

"Something like that." I sigh.

"Wow, just wow. I thought you were different." He stands to his feet and begins to pace. "For once I thought there was a different girl. I thought there was finally a smart intelligent girl, who had the capability to get and earn anything they wanted, but cared about others more than herself. And I've been here wasting my time with you, thinking that any of that could be possible." His words poor, probably faster than he could think.

"Henry! I don't want to be with them. But they are all a very nice group of people who are willing to help provide for me and give me a better life."

He finally stops pacing and shakes his head as he stares at me.“Why, why (y/n), you know I like you. Why did you come to me? Did you come to lead me on?"

“I came to you, because your my only friend. I came to you because I like you too." tears threat to come from my eyes. “Because you're the only one that listens." the first tear of many more slides down my cheek. “Because you were the first person who taught me, money can't by happiness. And I would have liked to say in a couple years I had enjoyed my time with you for the last time.-"

“You aren't coming back?" He whispers.

“I-I don't plan on it."

He sighs as he pushes up the curly locks that fall over his eyes, only for them to fall back again. He sits next to me.

"But, you can't." He says.

"I'm sorry." my voice cracks as I wipe the tear from my nose.

"No. Promise me you'll come back to see me." He holds my hands in his. “Promise." He repeats after I don't repeat.

I nod. But I'm not sure if I'm even telling the truth.

_*_

I had been out here with Henry in this woods area forever. Soon it was going to be dark, and because he didn't know how far I was going, he insisted that we turned back around so I could get home in a fair amount of time.

“Yeah." I laugh. We were laughing about how much temper my boss had in such a little body. We came at the end of the dirt trail.

We both sigh as we stare at the concrete. Knowing that the dirt and the hard ground were the separation of our fairy-tale for a while, maybe even forever.

"So which way are you heading?" He ask.

"Same way as you for a while, until we get to main street." I answer.

He nods. Just as I was about to take my step into reality, he pulls me back.

"Wait." He holds my arm. "You and I, both know, this will be the last time we're together, for a while. Right."

I nod and frown at the thought.

"Well, I just need to get a few things off my chest." He says.

I nod once more, knowing what was coming.

"As I've already pointed out a while ago, I like you. I've had a crush in you since the couple months you've lived here. You have no idea how happy I was to find out that after I met you in school that you were working next door to me. Honestly, I was having a mental party when you told me." He chuckles as his cheeks turn pink. "But I've built a relationship with you, that I can't even explain, I think you're so smart and sweet and caring, and so many other things that are so beautiful in a person, that not a many other people could say they have. And I love being your friend so much, but I want you to be so much more. That's why you have to come back, at least sometimes becau-"

I crash my lips into his. I know that I shouldn't have, its just going to make things worse. But I couldn't help it.

His lips are soft. His breath smells like coffee and bubblegum. His hair that falls to my face a little, smells like the bakery. His touch is gentle. It was close to almost perfect. Yet not perfect enough. Probably from the fact that this might never work because I have to live a now secret life.

When he pulls away, it isn't far because he leans in to my hair.

"You promised you'd come back. You can't break it." He whispers.

I nod.

We walk back, it felt a bit awkward as we walked, but not too awkward, until we reach the main street.

"Well, I'll see you soon then." He sighs.

I force a smile."Yeah, I'll see you Henry."

He nods before turning and going left. I cross the busy street.

Don't look back, don't look back, don't look back. Damn.

He turns around too. "You better come back." He mouths.

"I will."
