I was sitting on my bed, eating candy and watching tv when I heard the front door open. I figured it was my best friend, considering she said she might come by today since I was lonely and Nate wouldn't be home from tour for another few days. But then I realized something. The front door was locked, and no one had a key to it except me and–
"Hey!" Nate greeted as he came through Nate bedroom door, a few suitcases in his hands and arms.
I jumped off our bed and ran to him, his arms wrapping around me after he dropped his suitcases.
"I thought you wouldn't be home until a few days from now?" I said, shocked that my boyfriend was finally in my arms again.
"Just wanted to surprise you," He said as he nuzzled his face into my neck. "I missed you so much, (y/n)."
"I missed you more!" I said as I pulled away, only then noticing that Nate's hair was almost a mess, and his white tee shirt was dirty and had rips and holes in it, and not like the usual ones he would usually rip into his own shirts.
"What?" He said, noticing my staring.
"Why do you look like someone tried to mug you?" I asked him.
He gave me a look then laughed nervously. "Oh, it was the fans at the airport. They kind of mobbed me."
"Are you serious?" I asked him incredulously.
He picked up his suitcases and put them in his closet. "I know, you're probably pissed they knew I was coming home early before you. But, to be fair, I had no clue how they figured it out. I–"
"Do you really think I'm upset over that?" I crossed my arms.
He looked at me weirdly. "Is that not it?"
I sighed. "No, Nate , it's not. I couldn't care less that they knew before I did. The surprise was worth it. What I'm upset about is the fact you got mobbed again."
"Oh," Nate drawled out. "(Y/n), it's fine."
"No, it's not," I countered.
"It's just something that happens sometimes. It's not right, but it's hard to control a big crowd of people. Security could only do so much." Nate shrugged, sounding defeated. It was crazy that he was used to this because of how often it happened. I hated how sad he seemed because of it, too.
I shook my head in disbelief. "I cannot believe you're making excuses for that kind of behavior. They shouldn't treat you guys like that. You're human too, you deserve respect and personal space."
Nate nodded. "You're right."
I looked him over for a moment, then walked over to him and tried to fix his hair.
"Did they hurt you?" I worried. "Are you okay?"
He rubbed my cheek with his thumb. "I'm fine, love."
"Are you sure?" I pressed.
"I promise." He smiled.
I returned his smile. "Good, now go take a warm shower. You deserve it."
"Will you join me?" Nate smirked.
I rolled my eyes and hit his arm playfully. "Yes, but only because I feel so bad about what happened."
His smirk turned into a frown. "That's the reason? Not because you missed me or love me?"
I leaned in and kissed him sweetly. "I guess those are valid reasons too."
