Today is the first day back to school. This summer hasn't been the best... seeing as my parents died when they drove off Wickery Bridge. I was a miracle that me and my sister Elena escaped the car. We don't remember how, all we know is that we survived and our parents didn't. But today has to be a different day, I can't be this sad boy who's always afraid to get in a car, I have to be Blake Gilbert, a totally normal boy who just happens to live with his Aunt Jenna.

I walk down the stairs and walk into the kitchen. Jenna rushes out the door.
"What's up with her?" I ask while I pour coffee into my mug.
"She's late for a job interview." Elena says grabbing her bag.
"Bonnie is giving me a ride to school, are you coming with us?" I nod and grab my bag. I turn to my brother, Jeremy, who's sitting by the counter.
"Jer, I just wa-
"Please don't give me the talk again. I don't need you always on my ass." I roll my eyes. "Whatever... I'm going to school."

I'm sitting in back of Bonnie's car, texting with Caroline. She's Elena's 'friend'. Sometimes she's kind of mean, but she's a perfectionist and I've known her my whole life. I'd say she's one of my closest friends. Bonnie is talking to Elena up front, saying she thinks she's a psychic. She said her Grams told her that their ancestors went back to the Salem which trials. Then it happened. This huge bang. Bonnie slams on the breaks.
"It's okay... it was just a bird." Elena looks over at Bonnie.
"I think I'm gonna walk to school." Elena gets out of the car and slams the door. Bonnie looks back at me. I smile.
"I'll go with her."
"Thank you, Blake." I hop out of the car and catch up to Elena.

I walk into school with a huge sigh. I look down at the paper in my hands to see the number of my new locker. 2587. That's on the second floor. I walk over to the stairs, and start to run up them. I turn the corner sharp and run into someone. We both drop our stuff into the ground.
"Oh my god, I'm so sorry, I'm such an idiot." I bend down and start picking up our stuff.
"No, no, it's fine," I look up at him. "My name is Stefan. I'm new here." I hand him his stuff. "Nice to meet you Stefan. I'm Blake." He points at my locker number.
"Locker 2587, we're right next to each other. Do you happen to know where it is?" I smile.
"Yeah, I was just on my way there, follow me."

I point to his locker right by Mr. Tanner's room. "Thank you, maybe I'll see you around." I nod as he walks away. I open my locker and put my stuff inside. Time to go to class.

After school me and Elena go to the graveyard. We usually do this, we sit by our parent's grave and just talk.
"So I met someone today." Elena says.
"Me too. Stefan?"
"Yeah. He seems... mysterious."
"Yeah well I ran into him, literally. It was really awkward." All of the sudden, out of nowhere, fog started surrounding us.
"We should get out of here." Elena suggests. I nod, and we get up and run towards the woods. Elena trips and rolls down a small hill.
"Elena, are you okay?" I ask. I help her up. "I'm fine." We turn around to see Stefan standing there.
"Are you okay?" He asks.
"Yeah I'm fine." She mutters. "That's a nice ring." She points out a silver and blue ring on his finger.
"Yeah, it's just a family kind of thing." He looks at us both.
"Are you two... siblings?"
"Yeah. Twins, actually." I announce. Stefan squints his eyes.
"Are you, sure you are fine?" Elena rolls up her jeans, to show she's bleeding.
"Oh. Yep. I'm bleeding, all right." Stefan turns around.
"You should go."
"Oh no, it's fine." We both look up, and he's gone.

Later that night, Me and Elena are getting ready to go to the grill. Just dinner. "Ready?" She's asks. I nod, as we walk over to the door. She opens it and Stefan was standing there, just about to knock. He pulls out a book. "You left this at the graveyard." He says. Elena grabs it. "You have a diary?" I ask. She looks at me, the type of look that tells you to back off.
"Hey, do you wanna come to the grill with us?" Elena asks. Stefan smiles.
"That would be amazing." I step back. "I think I'll just stay home tonight."
"Are you sure?" Elena asks.
"Yeah, you two have fun." Elena shuts the door and I go up to my room. I lay down in bed, and soon enough I drift off to sleep.

The next day I wake up in bed. I look over at the clock. Crap. Second day and I'm already late for school. I run downstairs and grab my bag and run out the door.

At school, its lunch. Luckily Elena always has a spare sandwich, so maybe she'll give it to me. I sit down next to her at the table, Bonnie and Caroline on the other side. "Someone finally decided to show up."
"Sorry, I slept in. Even though I fell asleep early."
"Blake, you missed it. Stefan totally 1 uped Mr. Tanner in history class this morning." Bonnie spills. "What a gentlemen." I joke.

I was drinking water on the couch after school when Elena, plopped down next to me.
"So, there's this party tonight, at the old graveyard."
"You want me to go?"
"Yeah. It'll be totally fun and everyone else is going too... I'll buy you ice cream afterwards." I smirk.
"Okay... fine. Let's go." She smiles.
"Great! Let's go."

We get to the party, and Jeremy jumps right out of the car. He looks over at Vicki Donovan, Matt's younger sister. Matt and Elena were dating, but she broke up with him over the summer. I walk over to him.
"Jer, if you like her, then just ask he out."
"Yeah, well she's dating Tyler Lockwood. I don't think I wanna get caught up in that." Tyler Lockwood's dad is the mayor. And his mom works along side him.

I walk over to the fire, when this guy I haven't seen before walks up to me.
"Blake Gilbert, right? You're parents died not too long ago."
"Yeah, what do you want?"
"I just wanted to say I'm sorry for you're loss, it must suck to know, without your parents, you're just some sad kid who lives with his aunt." He laughs and then walks off. It's just like what I said this morning. I don't wanna be seen like this, I know he's just saying that to hurt me but... he was able to get to me.

Next thing I know I'm downing cups of beer, not stopping for one second, getting wasted beyond belief. "Blake..." I hear someone say from behind me. I turn around, it's Stefan.
"Oh hey there... S-Stefan." He sits down next to me.
"Are you... drunk?"
"I don't know, you tell me. I've had like one... two... maybe a little more drinks."
"I'm gonna go get you some water, don't move."
"Okay, I'll just be right here!"

I put my head down, and after what seems like hours Stefan is back. He hands me the water.
"So, why are you getting so wasted?" He asks.
"Some dick made some joke about my parents, and I guess it was just too much." I take a gulp and almost fall over, Stefan catches me.
"I think you're a little too drunk to be taking a walk." I laugh.
"Okay, whatever you say... mom. Oh right, she's dead." He sits me back down. A loud screen came from the woods.

Someone was carrying Vicki Donovan out of the woods, blood dripping from her neck. I took a close look, and it almost resembled a bit mark. Everyone is gathered around, I look up to see Stefan running off. Why is he leaving? By now I don't think I'm as drunk as I was before.
"C'mon, I'm gonna drive you and Jer home." Lots of other people were leaving as well, and the ambulance was just pulling in. Elena tugs me to the car and through a me in back. Jeremy gets up front.
"Well Blake, you're obviously drunk so have fun getting out of this one with Jenna."

Everything else was just a blur. After I got in the car I guess I just passed out. I don't know why... but Stefan... he's stuck on my mind.
