The Sacrifice

"Blake!" Elena calls up the stairs while I'm grabbing my shirt. I open my door and glance down the stairs, Stefan and Damon are at the bottom of the stairs.

"Oh, um, hi." I awkwardly say, while I'm still putting on my shirt.

"We need to talk." Damon smiles.

"Why?" I ask.

"We went to see Katherine." He tells me. I roll my eyes.

Elena guides the three of us to the kitchen. Damon grabs an orange from a bowl on our counter, and begins peeling it. I lean up against the corner. "So, what exactly happened."

"Well, we went to the tomb to ask Katherine for the moonstone--" Damon starts, "But we didn't really get it." Stefan finishes for him. I look at the two of them, waiting for the rest. "Katherine said that if we let her out of the tomb, she'll give us the moonstone, and leave Mystic Falls forever." I furrow an eyebrow.

"You don't believe her do you?" I ask.

"No, of course not. We just want the moonstone." Damon assures me.

"According to Rose's friend Slater, there's a way to destroy the spell Klaus wants to break." Stefan tells me, "No spell, no doppelgänger sacrifice." Damon sums it up, "Ergo, you live." He says, nodding at Elena.

"How do you destroy it?" Elena asks.

"By releasing it from the moonstone." Stefan says leaning down on the counter. Elena bites her lip, I can tell she's not quite sure if she believes it or not.

"How do you guys even know this is gonna work?" I ask for her.

"'Cause we have a crafty witch on our side." Damon says, tossing the orange peels into the trash.

"You discussed it with Bonnie?" Elena asks.

"She agreed to do anything she could to help us." Stefan tells Elena.

"It's Katherine, guys. She's not gonna give it to you." Elena points out.

"We're gonna get it." Stefan says immediately, "Well, what he means to say, is that we'll pry it from her cold, dead hands if we have to." Damon nods, shoving an orange slice in his mouth.

"Bonnie just needs to find a way to take down the seal long enough for us to get in and get the moonstone." Stefan explains.

"Wow. It seems like you guys have it all planned out." Elena joke, sitting down on a stool.

"Yep. We're awesome." Damon grins.

"Except for one thing. I don't want you to do it." Elena tells them. Stefan and Damon look at each other, confused.

"What are you talking about, Elena? We don't have a choice." Stefan asks.

"What about Klaus?" She points out.

"We'll find him. Right after we get the moonstone."

"Is that before or after he kills everyone I care about? That's including the two of you!" Elena begins to raise her voice.
