Ric walks through the front door of the boarding house, looking confused. He doesn't know why he was invited over, obviously. But we need his help. "Thanks for coming." Damon thanks him. "Can I get you something to drink? Bourbon? Coffee? Bourbon with coffee?" Damon asks him.

"I'm good, thank you." Rick says. "Elena mention you needed my help."

"We were hoping you could help shed some light on the Lockwood family." Stefan says.

"Why would I know anything about the Lockwood's?"

"Well, you wouldn't. But you're dead-- not dead vampire wife might." Damon says, sitting down. "Isobel's research from when you guys were at Duke together." Elena starts. "you said she studied this town for years." I finish for her.

"Isobel's research here, on Mystic Falls, was rooted in folklore and legend. At the time, I thought most of it was... fiction."

"Like that amazing vampire story." Damon jokes, I roll my eyes.

"Aside from vampires, what else?" I ask. "Lycanthrope." Rick says almost immediately.

     "Wait, like werewolves?" Elena asks.

"No way, that's impossible. It's way too Lon Chaney." Stefan looks over at him. "Is it?" He questions Damon. "i've been on this planet one hundred and sixty-some old years, and I've never come across one. If werewolves exist, where the hell are they?" Damon shrugs.

"Well why do you suspect the Lockwood family?" Rick asks us.

"Well vervain didn't effect the mayor on Founder's Day, but the Gilbert device did." Damon tells Rick. "And it effected Tyler, too." I add in.

"And at the school carnival, his uncle Mason exhibited inhuman behavior when he fought one of the carnival workers." Stefan also adds in. "It suggested some sort of supernatural entity."

"We're hoping that something in Isobel's research can help us figure out what it is." I try to finish.

"Well all of her research is still at Duke." Rick explains. "Her office is still there, she's 'technically' still missing."

"So can we get access to it?" Damon asks him, raising his arms up with his shoulders. Rick stays silent. "Rick we need to know what we're dealing with," Damon leans in. "if this wolfman theory is true, I've seen enough movie to know that it's not good. That means that Mason Lockwood is a real-life Lon Chaney, and that little Tyler punk might just be Lon Chaney Jr. Which means Bela Lugosi-- meaning me, is totally screwed." Damon finally finishes his exaggeration. Rick sighs.
