Tyler was never really against people, he just always felt the need to defend himself. If anything, people were against him. He felt constantly judged, and he thought life on Earth would be better and refreshing. But Earth too had things against people like him, not on the angel thing but on everything else. He never heard of the "bad boy" cliche until he arrived here. Back at "home" it was just an angel gone rotten, or a mistake.
He hated when eyes were on him, he felt like people were trying to figure who or what he was. He hated it, so people never bothered to speak with him or reply when he made a rude remark. But then he remembered the conversation with Josh who actually did reply. He was shocked, he must admit.
Just like Josh had a curiosity over Tyler, Tyler was curious about Josh and wondered what he was like.
Despite Tyler being somewhat mean to Josh in their conversation not too long ago, he enjoyed the playful banter that went on before he got on the pink-haired boy's nerves. It was rare for someone to click with him that way. Josh was the nervous type, Tyler could tell so the sassy replies surprised him. He found the rare communication between the two...refreshing.
The angel boy was sat on his porch, letting the cold of the night dust his nose a light pink. He looked his neighbor's flowers he saw being watered earlier in the day and noticed a bit of wilting. He frowned at it, although he had a "bad boy" cliche painted on him, he had a heart for dying beauty and knew the feminine boy will one day be sadden at nature's death.
He looked around to make sure no one was around and held a steady gaze to the flowers. He quietly whispered a healing chant that angels used frequently and noticed a significant difference between the tulips. Their color was more vibrant, and they looked new even through the dark night atmosphere. He hoped his lovely neighbor would notice, but too much to question it.
Lovely...that's what he called Josh earlier. He meant it, but said it in a form that sounded sarcastic, he truly thought 'flower boy' was lovely. He hoped he didn't offend him. Tyler was very aware of the smaller boy's strong on-going relationship, the angel was in one himself, except his was going on four years. He feared his banishment would butcher what he had with his girlfriend but they figured out a way.
Jenna Black, the toughest girl Tyler has ever met, she too wasn't really accepted back home, but she wasn't much of a trouble maker like Mr. Badboy back on Earth. Her attitude was something he loved about her, her hopefulness on changing how things were looked at by society. She's still determined now, and Tyler is sure to stay by her side.
Still, he couldn't help but have soft gazing looks at the flower boy. He always studied the way he spoke to the flowers every afternoon, he just happened to be caught today. He found it very innocent, like society hasn't closed in on him yet. But frankly, Tyler adored people like that. Josh was a person that society needed to learn from, but he can tell the flower boy was clueless about that. Tyler knew things, he was an angel after all.
The angel boy checked his watch and saw it was 11:46pm. Eyes widening in realization, he jumped to his feet and ran off in a sprint towards the nearby park. He ran the necessary blocks to get there and when he arrived, he wasn't out of breath. Flying takes more energy than running for an angel, so running doesn't take much out of them. Flying did tire out Tyler but on it was faster though on Earth there wasn't a subtle way to fly. He missed it, flight gave a freedom that humans long for.
He checked his watch again and saw that it was 11:53pm. He sighed in relief and headed towards the familiar path behind the playground of the park. As he was walking, he heard something. At first he couldn't identify the sound so he froze in his tracks, he focused on hearing and heard quiet whimpering. Not from an animal, but from a human. Tyler took a few moments to think on how to address the situation. Should he investigate the sound? Or should he mind his own business and keep walking? He would make sure not to be late for his daily midnight habit.
Curiosity got the best of him and went following the sound. He soon realized the weeping came from the playground, how did he not see anyone there before? The closer he got, he noticed the shadow of a person sitting on the park bench. The quiet whimpering became soft crying. Curiosity still had a hold on the angel.
Tyler silently walked closer and the streetlight soon revealed a head of familiar pink hair. The crying came from Josh, the sweet innocent Josh. The taller boy's hear broke a little at what he saw, upon closer inspection, the feminine boy's outsit seemed messed with. His shoulder was revealed from the sleeve, the folds of his jeans undone and his perfect side-hair style, a pink cotton candy mess. Tyler thought for a moment and the theory he came up with could of made him cry on the spot. What happened to him? Was he okay?
"Uh...Josh, is that you?" He decided to speak. The crying came to a harsh gasp and the flower boy instantly tensed up.
"E-eric?" He squeaked out fearfully.
"No, it's Tyler, your neighbor." He reassured him. Josh let out a huge shaky breath of relief. Tyler walked closer resting a hand on his shoulder.
"Are you okay?" He asked with genuine concern and worry. Josh has never wronged him and he knew how sweet the boy was, it only made sense to be worried for a beauty like him.
Josh just shook his head and Tyler sat next to him on the bench. From this view, the angel saw how pulled his pretty sweater was, some lace pulled and torn. He looked like a mess.
Tyler frowned more, and rested his hand on the crying boy's shoulder. He shifted from it and Tyler backed off.
"Sorry" he mumbled. "I'll ask next time." Josh nods, appreciating Tyler's kindness.
"May I ask what happened?" He tries to ask.
"E-eric..h-he..and just...I-I couldn't stop hi- a-and I.." The feminine boy tries to reply and ends up choking on sobs. Tyler was clueless on how to offer any comfort."May I hug you?" Josh nods slowly as Tyler pulls him gently for a warm embrace. He rubs his back soothingly as the hurt boy's body shakes and cries. He didn't say anything and just comforted him, rocking sideways slowly as the night breeze whispered to them. Josh's breathing was steadily returning to normal as he mimicked Tyler's breathing since his head was laying on the angel's chest.
"You don't have to tell me." He says breaking the silence. And Josh softly says thank you.
"Why are you here?" He finally speaks out clearly.
"Uh...a midnight stroll I guess." He chucked quietly.
"Why...why did you bother comforting me?" He asks, clearly confused of his gesture.
"I do have a heart, flower boy." He smiles to himself.
"You don't make it seem like you do." Josh says, his words muffled by the close embrace. Tyler chuckled at his response and continued to hold flower boy.
And that's how the two boys stayed for a few minutes. The angel completely ignoring the time, 12:00am. He didn't check to make sure when it was midnight. He forgot he had something to do, he focused on the feminine boy in his arms, who clearly had a rough night.
Tyler wouldn't admit it to himself, but he adored having the lovely boy in his arms, as he comforted him. Could this be a start of a new friendship?
