The time was ticking.

Kelly had Brendon take Josh out of the room, that way she could work on healing the fainted angel in peace. The two were in he living room, Brendon in the couch while Josh was pacing back and forth. Brendon didn't realize until getting a good look at Josh that he was in fact, human. It surprised him really, angels aren't supposed to reveal their identities to humans, they were meant to live among them whilst also protecting them.

Then again, their angel sector was far from the normal ones. There's was plagued by evil.

Footsteps from the top of the stairs snapped Brendon out of his gaze, and stopped Josh from pacing. Kelly came downstairs quietly, looking at the anxious boys. Josh stared at her, hoping to hear any ounce of good news. But she looked away, and walked past him to where all the books lined up on a shelf.

"i'm just gathering more things, the type of magic used on him, is unlike any i've ever seen. Heaven knows how the king got ahold of such cruel abilities."

"...so you can't heal him?" Josh whispered, his shoulders falling and eyes stuck on the floor. She looked over at him and sighed, thinking of the best words to say.

"i'm trying my best hun, I'm rather limited on what I can do, our magic doesn't work as well on Earth, especially since we've been stripped of our abilities when King Black came in to powet. I've been relying on my own gemstones to temporarily give me access to my natural skills. I don't have all my books, my tools, and most of my resources."

"where are they?" Brendon asked.

Kelly turned towards him with a heavy sigh.

"I don't know, because of my previous status, the king came down to make sure I had nothing, i was only able to hide very little. Who knows where he keeps that stuff.."

"h-he came here?" Brendon asked wide-eyed in fear. Kelly nodded, eyes drifting to the side.

"Before he sent more angels here, he made sure the ones sent before him wouldn't have the resources to possibly rebel against him. He went for the strongest ones and closest to the previous king.." Kelly's face went grim as she remembered it all.

"...were you close to the old king?" Brendon spoke up. Kelly nodded.

"I was his mage actually." she confessed.

"Mage?" Josh asked. Brendon looked back at him, with an eyebrow quirked up in confusion until he remembered that he was a human.

"Mages are angels gifted with abilities far stronger than the average ones. Each time a king comes into power, they choose their mage and the chosen angel gets bestowed even more magic thats been passed down through generations of mages. Their job is to heal, if any epidemic occurs in the land assigned to each angel sector, the mage is in charge of finding a cure for humanity. They also heal people in their kingdoms." Kelly explained. Josh remained quiet, trying to process the information given.

He didn't know how to handle every time he gets told information about angels, their government and situation, it all still seems so bizarre to him, afterall, Josh knows he wasn't supposed to find out. Sometimes that part still burdens him, because perhaps Tyler would have had one less thing to worry about if Josh never discovered his truth.

After a moment, Kelly continued.

"So it would only make sense for King Black to make sure I wasn't a problem. It was terrifying, I didn't know he was in power until his guards broke in our home, I was pinned down and the king got in, he held a gemstone as a host and made me revoke the ability that made me a mage, The Holy Light."
