Mr. Cross glared daggers at me before stomping out of the bedroom. Mari just looked at me and panicked.

"Oh my God!" She screamed. Mari rushed out before me and just left me on the bed partially naked.

"Ok cool... I'll just meet you down there..." I sighed before hurrying to get dressed. After I finished I ran down to be met with Mr and Mrs. Cross who gave me utterly disgusted looks. "Look I promise you it isn't what it looks like." I begged. They both stepped towards me with stone cold glares until Mr. Cross raised up his hand and smacked me directly across the face.

"You pitiful bitch!" He yelled angrily at me. I fell back in shock not knowing what to say. Nathan looked at me sadly and shook his head.

"Ava I can't believe you!" He shouted. I looked at him with tears in my eyes unable to stop myself from crying.

"I told you how it was! Why the sudden change?" I asked him. Then I looked over towards Mari's parents with a hateful look. "I'm sorry that I love your daughter! That doesn't give you the right to get between us though! Despite all that has happened I wish to ask for your permission to go out with her this time. I am very much in love with Mari so I hope you'll believe me..." I pleaded. Her parents looked at each other and smiled.

"See, I told you she was the one!" Her mother said happily. Mr. Cross sighed in content and lifted me up off the floor.

"I'm terribly sorry Ava... we just had to make sure you were the one for our little girl..." He said sadly. I scoffed in disbelief.

"Are you kidding me?" I asked on the verge of screaming. Mari came out of hiding and waved nervously to me.

"I'm sorry Ava... I really am... I just... they needed proof that you loved me... please don't be mad..." She begged me. I sighed and rubbed my head. Mari gave me a worried look and Nathan avoided eye contact with me.

"You know it's a good thing that I fell so hard for you. Otherwise I would've dumped you if I didn't." I said with a slight grin. Mari smiled brightly and ran to me for a hug and a kiss without second thoughts. Mari's parents laughed as she jumped all over me happily. I grabbed her hands and kissed each of them lovingly. "You know we need to get to school right?" I asked. Her smile suddenly disappeared and soon we were all running out of the house and to the car to leave. Once we got dropped off we stood in front of the school together and laughed. "Well, shall we go in?" I asked holding out my hand. Mari nodded and latched onto me as we walked hand in hand into the school.

"It feels different when your with the person you love." She said leaning onto me. "Even though we haven't been together that long I just know the red strings of faith brought us together."

"Ava is that you?" I turned around to see Lara and Devin looking at me with extremely confused gazes. I stopped in my tracks and smiled.

"Yeah it's me. You caught me." I said jokingly. Devin and Lara looked at each other and then back at me.

"What are you doing with her?" Lara asked. I groaned but turned back to Mari and pecked her on the lips without a second thought.

"I'm in love with Mari. It might sound weird but it's true..." I said. Mari grinned and laid her head onto my shoulder.

"The feeling is mutual. Ava is meant to be with me." Mari said. Lara and Devin said nothing and continued to get walk until we lost them in the flock of students.

"I guess not everyone is going to be as accepting huh?" I asked slightly frowning.
