I shook my head and stole Mari's coffee off the table to take a sip. She was waiting for my answer, but honestly I wasn't sure what to say. My parents, who are responsible for my terrible childhood and attempted suicide, want me to come over to their house? What kind of bullshit is this? Mari tapped me on the shoulder,  staring into my eyes with wonder. Sometimes I can't understand what she's thinking, but this time I can clearly see that she wants me to go.

"Look, I know you want me to go, Mari. It's written all over your face, so I will as long as you are with me. I want you to see how awesome I am when I beat the living shit out of scumbags like them!" I said with a confident smile. Mari chuckled a bit and reached her hand for my head. She patted me softly without saying a word, and then without any warning she leaned in and pecked me on my cheek.

"I can't wait to see that, darling..." She said, pushing her hair away from her face. I held in my laugh so I wouldn't upset her, but seriously Mari don't try and pull off the seductive act. Mari reached over for the coffee in my hands and took it from me. "By the way, don't take my coffee. Go get your own, you twat." Mari looked at me, trying to keep in her laugh.

"I think we need to be separated for a while because you obviously are learning way to much from me." She lightly pushed me on the side jokingly, "Well, I'm going to hear to bed. It's a little early, but I honestly feel dead inside." I stood up and started walking for the door when Mari grabbed my shirt. She looked at me pleadingly and hugged me as she begged me to sleep with her for the night.

"I just... want you to be by my side..." Mari cried. That night, I decided to stay with her. She was shaken up from the whole incident, so why would I let my wonderful girlfriend suffer alone in her room? Whenever I sleep with her, it feels like everything is floating and everything is exactly how it should be...

The Next Day After School

Lara and Devin still aren't speaking to me, but that's fine. You really kbow who your friends are once they stop talking to you completely for dating someone... Although I wouldn't blame them... I was kind of harsh on them, and they both said that they, um, have strong feelings about me. After the last class of the day, Mari greeted me outside the door with a kiss. It really is the best way to get ready for the hell I'm about to face.

"Are you ready, darling?" She asked me, holding onto my right arm as we walked through the hallway.

"Oh, yeah sure. I'm just so excited to talk to my parents with you. We should have one of your maids or butlers come with us..." I muttered, staring at the ground while waiting for Mari to speak. She released her grasp from my hand and put it around my shoulders instead. Mari said nothing, but she was a thinking intently about what she should say.

"We'll be fine, Ava. I got the most capable person right beside me. God knows you can and will beat them if they try something funny." Mari giggled. I couldn't help but smile at her response, and with that we hurried to their house. It was oddly short drive over, but he most surprising thing is that my parents we're in one of the best sections of town. Most of the houses there were over $500,000! They gotta be selling drug or some shit...  There's no way that they were able to afford this on minimum wage... Mari and I walked up to the humongous front doors and knocked. Inside, we could head a little bit of scuttling and things crashing to the floor. A little while later, the doors opened and we were welcomed by my parents. I was taken back a little by their appearance. Both of them wore luxurious outfits, and here I am in my beanie, ripped jeans, and flannel shirt. They gestured us to come inside, but my feet would not move even a millimeter. They could tell I was uncomfortable and stood there at the door to speak.

"You're still such a little baby..." My father said in a hushed voice. Wow, and here I thought that you would change your attitude a bit...

"So, how'd you afford the house? You got a drug ring here or what?" I asked bluntly without any consideration. They both glared at me and sighed.

"Well, if you would listen, you would know that both your mother and I are in the medical field as if now." My jaw dropped. They are the least qualified people to be medical professionals! Who the hell would hire them?"

"Whatever. Anyways, why'd you invite me here today?" They looked at each other and smiled.

"Well of course to invite our dear daughter to come back and live with us! Oh, and make sure you ask Nathan as well. We miss you both, especially after our meeting yesterday. We just want to make our family whole again, Ava. What do you say?" They both said. My heart felt like it was about to burst, and definately not in a good way. I didn't even answer them and started walking back to the car with Mari behind me. She was speaking to me, but I couldn't hear anything she said. I was pissed off not only by their tenacity to ask me and Nathan to both come back to them, but also they still completely disrespect us both. Mari offered to drive us home so I took her up on that and took a nap on the way. That whole situation just tired me out so much... I'm glad I have Mari... I don't know anyone else who would deal with my shit besides her... The only family I need is her because she is the one. I know that for sure now.
