A Little Lost

Chspter 9

I shot up and screamed. My body felt like it was on fire. The door burst open and someone ran to my side.

" Rebecca! What's wrong?" They asked as I stopped screaming and started shaking. My body trembled. And I started crying. They embraced me and I hugged them back tightly.

" Becca bear?" I heard. I lifted my head up and saw James. I moved out from under whom ever was holding me and I ran towards him. He embraced me and petted my head as I cried.

" What happened to her?" They asked. Only now I realized it was Gabe. I closed my eyes and tried to quite my crying. James didn't answer him. He was focused on me. He pulled back and tilted my head up. I wiped my eyes and he asked

" What happened Becca bear? Was its a bad dream?" I paused and remembered my body set adrift in the vast open sea of flames. I nodded closing my eyes. He removed his hand from my face and patted my head.

" How about I make you some Mac and Cheese? Since I'm guessing you haven't eaten all day." I nodded and smiled up at him and shook my head as my stomach growled. I blushed.

" That settles that then don't it, Becca bear?" I giggled and started pushing him out of my room. He smiled and said

" I didn't hear the magic word."

I said

" Uncle James would you make me some Mac and Cheese please?" He chuckled and started walking to the kitchen. I followed behind and kept silent. We walked into the kitchen. He flicked the lights on and went to the pantry. I say on one of the bar stools on the other side of the kitchen. He started cooking and we sat in silence. He finished then fixed me a bowl. He sat it down in front of me and sat opposite of me.

" So. What was that dream about?" Gabe asked standing in the door way. I was about to take a bite then stopped and set my fork back in the bowl.

" Leave her be. She probably doesn't want to talk about it."

Gabe said

" It might help. She needs to talk about it."

James looked over at Gabe and said

" Look, I have known her a hell of a lot longer than you. She'll talk about it when she's ready too. So get over it." Gabe straightened up and James threw a knife and it planted itself in the wall next to Gabe.

" Please stop. I'll tell the dream just stop it!" I said standing up and knocking the bar stool over. They just stared at each other. Gabe looked at me and nodded. He walked over and sat next to me. James shrugged and went to fix a bowl of Mac and Cheese. I closed my eyes and then said

" I was running in the woods. And I was headed towards a clearing. And when I got there it was a cliff and I had to escape so I jumped. And while I feel I felt my like my body was on fire and when I looked around I noticed I was being burned. The flames were dancing across my body and I started screaming. Then I saw yellow eyes looking at me threw the darkness..." I felt James wiped a tear from my eye and I shook my head. I looked down and finished " Then my body felt like I was changing. And the flames went under my skin and even my bones felt like they were on fire. That's when I woke up screaming..."

Gabe went pale and asked

" Have you been bitten by anyone?" I paused.

" No, not that I can recall. Why?"

He shook his head then stood up. He held out his hand and used his other to pull out his cell. He called some one and I took his hand and stood up.

" Michael. Get down here." Then he hung up. He pulled me close behind him and started walking. He sighed realizing I was too slow. He picked me up bridal style and was at the library in seconds. He moved the book and waited for the shelf to move.

" Gabe what's going on!" I asked just as the shelf was done. He looked down at me and said

" Getting your blood checked."

" Why would we need to do that?" I asked.

" Cause that's the same dream Austin and I had before we changed."

" Changed?" I asked. He nodded and the shelf finally moved and we were at the lab I was in before. He sat me down on the operation table. Then he looked at me.

" We changed into hybrids. Half werewolf. Half vampire. I have more wolf than Austin. He has more vampire than me."

" Then how was he a wolf the other day!" I asked horrified.

Gabe looked down and said

" He went threw a lot of pain to shift and save you..." My eyes widened. Austin... I looked over just in time to see Michael walk in with Austin trailing behind. He looked at me and looked down. He stood in front of me and I hugged him. At first he froze. Then he hugged me back.

" Why did you save me? You could have just not shifted.."

He hugged me tighter and said

" I didn't know if I could. I wanted to guarantee you would be safe." My breath caught and I merely nodded. Michael cleared his throat. Austin pulled back and smiled. I held out my arm. Michael took it. I looked down and Austin grabbed my chin and tilted it back up to look at him. Michael said

" Rebecca, I'm going to stick the needle in on the count of three okay?" I nodded.

" Okay. One. Two. Three." I waited but didn't feel the sharp pinch of the needle. I gave him a questioning look. He smiled.

" I did it on one." He said. I giggled and let go of Austin. He kept his hand on my chin. Michael and Gabe left talking in hushed voices. Austin and I locked gazes. He bent down a little and stopped. I stretched up. He smiled then his lips lightly brushed against mine. I closed my eyes and he kissed me.
