A Little Lost

Chapter 23

I finished with the blood and changed out of my torn and bloody clothes. Gabe walked back and had Jhonny. I reached out and took him. Gabe sat the chair down. He picked up a knife and was cleaning the blade. I rolled my eyes and walked over to my window. Jhonny was wide awake and was listening to me hum. I kissed the top of his head.

" Where do you think Austin is?" I asked Gabe not turning around. He must have shrugged then said

" Hell if I know. All I know is since he's missing and you almost got killed then I have to stay by your side at all times. "

" Who's orders?" I asked looking at the moon.

" My own." He said. I spun and he looked nonchalant about the whole thing.

" Your orders? But ho-"

" Look, I was assigned by the Association to have someone find and execute your mother. I took the job and Austin just tagged along with me. Weather you like it or not I am here to protect you and your family. As long as your mother is dead then I don't give a damn. I still get paid. And so does Austin."

I stepped back like he had just slapped me.

" Is that all we are to you? A pay check? How!- How could you say that! And to think! We thought you a part of this family! Rose enjoys your company as do I. Jhonny doesn't even let Rose or Richard hold him unless he has too. So don't you dare say you don't care for us. You have to have some feeling.."

He stopped and looked up to me. Standing up he put the knife away.

" Rebecca, that's not what I ment."

" Sure as hell didn't seem like you ment something else!" He paused.

" Rebecca, please calm down. I never said I didn't like you all. I just- I'm just not sure how to be in a family. Austin and I are friends and I've grown up in the Association. They train us to be killers. Deadly. I'm not use to feelings and a family."

" Gabe..." I took a step but stopped myself. He looked down.

" That's why I can't be myself and I'm always in the dark corner and quite. Unless someone starts a conversation and includes me. I'm not one to make myself known."

" Then stay with us." I said walking over and placing a hand on his face. He looked back up.

" Stay? Here with you guys?"

I nodded smiling.

" Yes. With us. Even after my moms dead maybe you can get a job around here or the Association might let you move in. I mean if you would mind to stay here anyway." He gave me a hug.

" Rebecca. You are too kind."

I laughed.

" No I'm just not one to lose a friend or say goodbye to family." He pulled back and sat back in the chair.

" Thank you." He said. As he regained his composure.

" Don't thank me. You saved my life least I could do." My phone started ringing. I picked up.

" Hello?"

" Rebecca! It's Makayla!"

" Oh my glob it's been forever!"

" Yeah I know! When you coming back? And Happy Birthday girl!!! 18 right?"

I laughed. " God yes. But I should be back soon." I said handing Jhonny to Gabe as I needed to look for something.

" Well better cause there's this new girl and you would so love her. Her names Sasha Belkov. She's from Russia."

" Ohhhh I think we should all meet for lunch! How about at noon?" I said glancing at the clock. It was 12:50. I Tsked.

" Agreed! Shall I pick you up?"

" Oh no I'll drive I have to do some errands before so I'll have the car. Do you want to describe her?" I asked pulling out a book of bed time stories and Jhonny sat up. He started clapping and giggling. He bounced and Gabe chuckled.

" She's tall. Sandy blonde. Grey eyes. In shape. And wears black, grey and White." I smiled

" Mind if I have some one join us? You'll approve." I said smiling.

" Ofcourse!!! Just don't forget Jhonny! See ya around noon bye!" Then the line disconnected. I placed my phone on the night stand as I placed the book on my bed.

" Come on. " I said picking Jhonny back up and sitting on my bed. He grabbed the book and sat it on his lap.

" I read Becca." He said smiling and opening the book.

" Alright." I said as he picked the story.

" Once.. Upon.. A....."

" Time." I said

" Becca!! I read!!" He said puffing out his cheeks. I smiled

" Okay but you have to learn words you don't know. And I'm only helping." I said rubbing his head.

" Silly Becca." He said and continued.

" There... Was...a.."

After he was done he fell asleep and I looked to Gabe.

" We have some where to go tomorrow." I said he nodded and said

" Then get some sleep." I chuckled and rolled over. Time seem to drag and I couldn't sleep. I kept rolling over. Gabe chuckled and said

" Just get some sleep."

" I can't with you watching my every move! " I shot back glaring.

" How about I leave and fix me something to eat." I rolled my eyes.

" Okay." I said and laid back down. I heard the door close and fell asleep almost instant.
