A Little Lost

Chapter 10

My test would take a while. So We decided to go to the park. It was mid-day. I watched as Maggie and Jhonny were on the slide. Mark was playing in the sand box. Rose was looking at the flowers. Austin was helping Jhonny climb the steps to the slide. Gabe was talking with Rose and making her laugh a bit. I smiled and started walking along the concrete path. I walked over a little bridge. I saw a guy about my age staring out at the little pond. He was alone and looked lost in thought. He turned around feeling my eyes on him. He smiled. He was tall compared to me. His eyes were brown. Like mine. His hair was short and black. He was very tan. And his smile showed he had dimples. I looked down. He was just standing there and I was staring like a freak! God help me today. I looked back up blushing. He started walking towards me. I smiled. He stopped in front of me. And held out his palm. I placed my hand in his and he bent down and kissed it. I blushed furiously and looked over to the side. He stood back up and let my hand fall. He nodded my way then turned to leave. I watched him walk away. Then I left and went back to the group. It was picnic time.

I laughed as Austin told the story about how Him and two other guys pulled pranks on their high school teachers. I took a bite of my sandwich. Then I heard a small whimper. I turned and saw a wolf staring at me. The wolf had brown eyes and they gave me a pleading look. I reached my hand out and Austin stood up. The wolf growled and it's ears folded back.

" Austin." I said tugging on his shorts. He looked at me then sighed and sat back down. The wolfs ears unfolded and he took a step. It's eyes watching Austin and Gabe. I scooted over and patted the spot next to me. It came over and laid down with his head in my lap. I smiled and rubbed between its ears. It closed its eyes and seemed as it's muscles loosened up. Jhonny walked over and the wolf opened one eye. He reached to pet him and the wolf moved closer.

A few hours later and it was getting dark. I got everyone ready to head home. The wolf watched us get ready to go. As we were about to leave it turned with its head down and started to leave. I felt a pang of pain shoot through my heart.

" Wait!!" I called and it turned around. " You coming with us or what?" I said smiling. His ears and tail shot up. He started wagging his tail and ran back. I got down and he ran to me. I rubbed him some more then got him in the car. Austin rolled his eyes in disgust. I frowned and rolled my eyes at him. We got home and every went in besides Austin and I who were bringing in the stuff from the time at the park. I felt exhausted. So after we put the stuff away and everyone was in bed and asleep. I walked back to my room to find the wolf laying in the floor next to my bed. His head shot up hearing me open the door. I smiled then said

" It's just me." I climbed into my bed and under the covers. He laid back down. " Come up here. It's gotta be uncomfortable in the floor dontcha think?" His body shook like he was laughing. Then he climbed up and laid down at the foot of the bed. I turned off my lamp and rolled over. I closed my eyes and fell into a dreamless sleep.
