Two Months Later...
Emma was setting the table, wearing a nice blouse and a black skirt that hugged her body nicely. Killian settled for a black button up shirt and black jeans. Hope had been going back and forth from her bedroom to the bathroom all day. It was finally the day that Grant would come over to meet both of Hope's parents. Emma was happy for her daughter. Since she had met Grant once before briefly, she wasn't nervous or super excited, but she was happy. Killian on the other hand, was looking forward to embarrassing his daughter and scaring the shit out of the boy.
Ever since they had found out that they would be having a daughter, Killian couldn't wait for this day. Ever since Emma had given birth to their baby girl, he dreamt about scaring his daughter's boyfriend. He had the whole 'over protective dad speech' all planned out in his head. Even when he had first met Emma and started getting close to her, he had spent his free time (which wasn't much), preparing himself for her father's speech. But then he found out that she was an orphan, he was upset, but also relieved. He had never had one of those speeches given to him, but he was sure that he could live without one too. Then, finding out who her real father was, what other way to avoid the speech than to kill him?
Once the doorbell rang, Hope ran down the stairs as fast as the wind. It was also the first appearance she had made downstairs all day. As the teenagers' voices traveled to the dining room, a smile found its way to Killian's lips. Emma looked over to him and smiled. She wrapped her arms around his waist and leaned up on her toes, brushing her nose against his.
"What are you all smiley about over here?" She asked, tilting her head to the side.
"The speech," he said, his smile widening and lighting up his whole face.
"What speech?"
"You know, the over protective dad speech."
"You want to scare the kid?" Emma asked, pulling away and crossing her arms over her chest.
"Yep," he replied, popping the 'p.'
"You're so bad," she muttered, hitting him with a towel. He shrugged and kissed her, which she automatically responded to. Emma was the first to pull away when footsteps came into the room. "Hi, Grant! It's nice to see you again."
"You too, Mrs. Jones. Mr Jones," he nodded to Killian. He held out his hand for a handshake. It took Killian by surprise when he gave the older man a firm handshake.
"Remember what I said about my father," Hope whispered, sitting down at the dinner table. Grant nodded and sat down next to her. He had a head of brown hair and blue, almost green eyes.
The adults sat down across from the teenagers and they passed the food around. "It smells wonderful, Mrs. Jones. I'm sure you're husband loves when you cook," Grant complimented.
"I do," Killian smirked. He looked over at Emma and smirked at her, but for a completely different reason. "So, Grant, what is your intentions with my daughter?"
"Oh no," Hope muttered, putting her face in her hands.
"To make her the happiest girl in the world."
"What do you want to do when you get older?"
"To become a forensics scientist, sir."
"Very smart." Killian nodded. "I have a feeling I'm going to like you. Unless you hurt my daughter. You keep in mind that no matter what you do to her, I will do to you. Hurt her, and I will come after you with my hunting rifle."
"He's kidding!" Hope quickly shouted, putting her hand on Grant's shoulder. He swallowed nervously and nodded. "He doesn't even have a hunting rifle."
"So, how's the boat business?" Grant asked, changing the subject.
"Very good," Killian replied, taking a bit of the potatoes on his plate.
"What's it like to sail? I've never been on a boat before."
"Maybe one day, Killian can take you and Hope out on the water," Emma said quickly before Killian could get a word in.
"I'd love to," the older man said.
"So, Hope tells us you are in track," Emma continued.
"Oh yeah, he likes to refer to himself as the fastest man alive," Hope said. Her statement made Grant's cheeks flush.
"Killian, he's got an ego like yours!" Emma laughed.
"Hey!" Killian shouted, not at all offended though.
"I-I wouldn't say I'm the fastest man alive, but I am pretty fast," Grant interrupted.
"With time, I have faith that you will be," Hope said. She leaned up to kiss his cheek. Emma's heart warmed inside her chest. Killian felt a sense of pride.
"Not in front of your parents," he whined lowly.
"Please, they do this stuff in front of me all the time." Hope waved her hand, dismissing it.
-----
After dinner, Hope took Grant up to her bedroom. With a death glare sent Grant's way by Killian, the two teenagers disappeared. The two adults cleaned up the dining room and the kitchen.
"Well, I think you succeeded in scaring him," Emma said, scrubbing away at a plate.
"Good. But I think I'm going to like this boy. He seems good for her. He has nothing but good intentions for her and wanted to impress us. If only he could know that he did," Killian said, wrapping his arms around her waist from behind.
"So you approve of them?"
"Yeah," he nodded. "I approve."
The End!!!
Yes, I based Grant off of Barry Allen. I mean, when some of this book was based off The Flash, I had to include him in a way.
I loved, loved, loved writing this story! Ever since I started binge watching The Flash on Netflix, I have wanted to make a superhero story with our favorite couple on TV. I mean, how could you not want to?
I have many stories in the works and ones that I will be updating very soon. And, I have a story exclusively on Fanfiction.net. It is called "Defiance" by author j1024h.
