Chaos.

It was the right word to describe how to describe the situation.

As soon as Jessica heard the explosion, she ran out of the room letting the door wide open.

Screams, gunshots, and footsteps could be heard clearly. I could as well smell the smoke from the explosions.

Of course, I didn't wait for someone to come save me. I struggled to get out of the chains. Don't be fooled, it was hard and my wrists were bruised, but I was free.

I walked to the table and examined the tools on top. A lot of them was for torture.

I sighed relieved that Derek came in time, damn that would have hurt.

Anyways, there were different kind of knives and daggers neatly disposed on the table. I took it all, after all, this was the only weapons I had.

I slowly walked out of the room making sure that there was no one. I made my way upstairs and I was greeted with a corpse.

Well, that was charming. Most of the noises came from the other side of the building. I looked down at the corpse and took his gun.

As I went upstairs, the noises became louder, unfortunately, I couldn't hear Derek or any of the leaders.

What was the goal of this attack? Rescuing me, that meant they went for Jessica!

I ran to her office, where Derek was forced to leave me behind. He was going to be there for sure.

As I approached the office, I saw a lot of corpses. Most of them were enemies, but we still suffered some casualties.

The door was closed, so I gently leaned on it.

"Where is he?" asked Derek as I shivered from fear and arousal. By only hearing his voice for the first time in a week was enough to arouse me. But his tone was so cold, so commanding.

"Who is?" answered Jessica feigning ignorance.

"Don't push me, Jessica. Where's Nyx?"

"You mean Cole," she chuckled. "As soon as he knew the truth, he left you. He is now somewhere in the building killing your men. You know his skills, don't you?"

"Stop lying or a bullet in your head would be the less of your worries."

"You think you're scaring me? Try again," she tempted him, all sweetness in her tone disappeared. "You didn't even notice how much he wanted to meet his own mother. As soon as you left, I asked him to join me. Without hesitation, he accepted." she laughed.

This was bad, I knew Derek. He usually was a patient person, but hearing all his threats, I knew he would snap soon.

I needed to act, but my only way in was this door. I was certain that Derek was in front of the door, so I had to walk pass him.

Not good.

I would need to improvise, I sighed.

I loaded my gun and hoped this would work. Slowly opened the door. Derek was showing his back to me and Jessica seemed to have noticed me. I smiled at her and pointed my gun on my lover's back.

"Don't move," I warned him as he went rigid.

His head turned and I could see his usual poker face, but his eyes were surprised and hurt. Like he wasn't believing what I was doing.

I would have to get closer to her if I wanted a clear shot.

"Give me your gun," I managed to show him my coldest smile. "Walk forward slowly and kneel," I said after I took his gun.

I positioned my weapon on the back of his head and loaded the gun again.

"Cole! I knew you'd come help me!" she chirped and I gave her a warm smile.

"I couldn't let him kill me own mother."

"Yes, you're right. Now, kill him," she ordered as her smile grew.

I nodded and bend forward as I mumbled something to Derek.

He didn't move nor acknowledged me. I guess I hurt him too deeply.

"I'm sorry..." I apologized before slowly pushing the trigger.

My vision started to get blurry as I saw Derek body on the ground with a blood surrounding his head.

I killed him! I killed Derek!

My mother jumped on me as she gave me a hug. "You did it! You're free now! Doesn't that feel good?" she took my face between her hands as she looked at me in the eyes.

I smiled, "Y-Yeah! It feels good! I'm so happy, that I cry because of it."

"See, I told you. Everything will be okay now. You don't have to worry about anything. Let me take care of you now." she cooed as he hugged me.

I hugged her back tightly and she screamed. She pushed me away from her as she stumbled on the floor.

Her hand was on her ribs putting pressure on her wound.

"W-why?" she asked weakly.

"I guess you're really my mother," I stated blankly.

"T-then why?"

"Only a mother would trust her child like that. Always hoping for them to change. I realized that now."

She didn't answer and I could see that she was rapidly losing blood.

"I also suppose that a child isn't insensible to his mother plead," I continued. "But, my love for Derek was stronger than mine with yours," I lifted my gun and put it on her forehead.

"H-he's dead... Cole, Derek is dead," she struggled to talk as she panted loudly.

"That may be right, but..." I started.

"It isn't quite true," Someone finished my sentence and saw Jessica eyes widening in horror.

I supposed she wasn't believing her eyes since I clearly shot him in the head.

"H-how?"

"Simple, he was never dead," I explained to her.

"B-but his blood?" she was desperately trying to find a logical explanation.

"Fake. Thanks to the tools you left on the table. I don't know what you wanted to do with it, but thank you again."

She was crying as we both watched her.

"My baby, everything I did for you, wasn't enough? What should I do to have you by my side?" she asked crying.

"Go back in time and don't get killed," I simply explained to her.

She sobbed harder, but she didn't try to escape.

"So, my baby doesn't exist anymore is that it?"

"Yeah, he died with Father's heart,"

"I see... Kill me," she simply asked. "I don't want to live in a world where my baby doesn't exist."

Now, I was hesitating.
