What worse can come of the situation? I do not own any of the characters in the Divergent Series.
CHAPTER NINE
CALEB POV
I awake to Tobias looking through the wreckage that is my home. Christina is standing in the corner, tears in her eyes. She is obviously upset about the events of these last few days. I try to speak, to explain to them what I saw and who did this, but when I part my lips, all that comes out is an ugly croak.
Tobias turns in my direction, an expectant look on his face. He must know that I saw something. I try to speak again, but this time, only a hoarse screech comes out. I reach over to my left and grab a pen and paper that were thrown on the floor from their place on my desk. I scrawl six measly letters on the paper, but that is enough.
Marcus
I hand it to Tobias, and his face immediately goes pale. He swallows nervously, staring at the paper. Then, without warning, he crumples the paper and throws it in the trash.
“Right where he belongs,” he mumbles under his breath.
I get up and head for the refrigerator for a glass of water since it seems the most reasonable thing to do, with my throat and all. I head into the kitchen. There, on the floor, is one of the last things that Tris gave me. Our mother’s journal, smashed to pieces on the floor. So much information, gone in a simple pile. I crouch down and cry out whatever moisture was still in my body.
He took away the rest of my mother. He took away a part of Tris.
