Light is finally shone upon their situation, it's darkness, and it's consequences. I do not own any of the characters in the Divergent Series.

CHAPTER SIX

TOBIAS POV

The tall grass covers our feet as we walk, searching for the area where Will was buried after he was found dead so long ago. This was where he would want to be, away from Dauntless gore, and Erudite cold.

The strong smell of churned earth is in the air mixed with the smell of rotting apples. I can tell we are nearing what used to be Amity Headquarters. This is also where Evelyn moved just a few months ago. Eventually we stumble to the correct area by sheer luck. I can see the name “William” engraved in the stone that marks his grave. We all stand there in silence, taking in the hard truth that so many of us have died. Dauntless is so cruel.

After a long moment of silence, we continue on our way to Tris’s memorial. Although we cremated her, I did not feel right leaving her with just that, so we ordered a memorial for her. She deserved so much more than that…

I can feel hot tears pressing at the back of my eyes. I cannot do this, I can’t. I sit down, woozy from the long day and strong emotions. After what feels like forever, we move on to Uriah.

Suddenly, Zeke begins to sputter. He kneels down gripping his chest and gives a shrill cry. From the shock, I hesitate and stand still, useless. I see his body slump to the ground. Dead.

Just like his brother. I have let them both die.

Death is a strong thing.

Will death never leave us alone?
