Another sad chapter in the Prestigent book. Hope you enjoy! I do not own any of the characters in the Divergent Series.
CHAPTER 16
TOBIAS POV
I can see Tris, her blonde hair running through the Dauntless corridors. I follow her, running to keep up. She turns a corner, her smile vanishing into the darkness. When I round the bend, I find her standing, smiling at me. She makes a motion with her hands, a shooing motion. I look at her, her face unwavering, and I turn, performing this simple task for her, but there, standing a few feet away is Christina. I turn back expectantly, looking at Tris, her hands still waving me away.
How can she push me away again? And that's when I realize that this is all a dream, that she will be gone when I awake. Her smile stands still, unchanging and surprisingly giddy.
"Move on," she says, her voice echoing through my mind. I can feel hot tears running down my face. I think back to when I rejected Christina. Did I really want to hurt her? Or did I really not feel anything for her? I am so confused. I look back up at Tris and there she is, still shooing me away.
"Live your life," her voice echoes again, unaltered.
'Why?" I ask, "Why can't I stay here?" I ask, my face dripping with tears, because that is what I want to do, stay in this dream realm and burrow my thoughts of reality deep inside of me. Then, I see Tris begin to cry as well, and that's when I shake myself from my dream.
Dauntless Headquarters is as dreary as ever. And suddenly, I know what to do. I know how to re-meet my best friend.
I know how to re-meet Christina.
