REVENGE! R.I.P. Cara...
CHAPTER 25
TOBIAS POV
The gunshots explode into the night. I move towards the window, looking out at the dark street. I hurry over to the counter and grab my gun, preparing for whatever waits ahead, although I knew, from the beginning who it was.
I open the door, hit quickly by the cool, crisp midnight air. I walk down the steps, listening for the ringing sounds of the bullet echoing from the buildings. I hurry, running as fast as I can towards the source of the noise. I reach Millenium Park in a matter of minutes. I drop to the ground, crawling through the grass. I look, scouting out the area. Adrenaline rushes through me.
Over to the right, I see a streak of red and a wisp of light blonde hair.
It's Tris...
I run as fast as I can, staying low to the ground. I can't lose her again. I can't lose anyone...
I reach the area, leveling with the ground. Cara lays, blood soaking her shirt next to Caleb, his hair matted in red blood. I shake them both, my stomach churning.
"No, no, no, no, no! Wake up! Wake up for Tris. For me! I can't lose anyone else... please..."
Caleb's eyes flutter open. Relief flushes through me, until I realize that Cara is not awake...
"Cara?" Caleb says, his eyes watery. He shakes her. He begins to give her mouth to mouth resuscitation, but I can see she is already gone. Her face and cheeks are already pale and bluing.
"Who did this?" I ask, anger in my voice. "It was Marcus, wasn't it?"
Caleb nods, his attention still on Cara. He drops to the ground, all happiness gone and taken from underneath him. He sobs, leaning over Cara. I feel tears pushing their way out of my eyes, but I keep them in. I stand up, gripping the gun tightly at my side.
"Where did he go?" I ask, my jaw tight.
Caleb hesitates slightly speaking between sobs, "He... was in the Bean when... when..."
I run, anger giving me strength, pushing me forward. I run through the Bean, ignoring my face in the mirror. I look out at the night, breathing heavily.
"Show yourself!" I scream into the night, but no one is there to hear. The only things left to hear me are the birds.
I scream in frustration, shooting at an empty shop, shattering glass across the street. A few birds take flight, cawing loudly. I shoot up at the sky and kill everyone.
If only those birds were my father. I want Marcus to die, and I will stop at nothing to achieve it...
