Detective time!!!!!!!!!!! Woohooo!!!!!!!
CHAPTER 22
CALEB POV
Cara and I part ways when we reach Millenium Park. I feel horrible about lying to Tobias... I huddle up in my room, closing my blinds, not allowing myself any light. I deserve nothing...
+++
What could Marcus be up to? I scream in frustration at my lack of knowledge. I get up quickly, opening the blinds, blinding me momentarily. I have to do something.
+++
I walk away from my home, forcing every weak step along the way. I head all the way to the Hub, a place I haven't been since I was assigned my house unit. I walk inside, the air around bitter and stale, as if it has been there since life itself was created.
I see Cara's blonde hair flowing over her shoulders. I walk behind the desk, ignoring the people in line. She smiles at me for a moment, then turns to a client, resuming her work. I stand there patiently, watching the line gradually decrease. At some point I leave the room, gasping for air. Stress has consumed me...
The sun begins to set and Cara comes out, her shift completed. I catch her up on my idea. I hope it will work...
+++
I write the note in sloppy, dark handwriting.
You have the money I have the mind.
Meet me at the Bean...
The Bean is a deteriorated structure in the core of Millenium Park, now overrun by ivy. I post this, Cara at my side on the side of a building in a dark alley by Tobias's house. I know he saw us give him the cloning sheet. I could see him standing right here. I hope he comes back this way...
Cara shivers slightly, the wind howling. I take off my jacket and hand it to her. We head together back to the Bean, hoping this will work.
I hope he comes.
I hope he doesn't see the gun...
