What will Tobias say to Christina's passion? Read on! I do not own any of the characters in the Divergent Series.
Also, note the Fault in Our Stars half quote-awesome!!!
CHAPTER 14
TOBIAS
Christina and I sat crying for some time, until she pulled away. Why does she look at me like that? And why do I picture Tris when I see her? I stare back questioningly. She leans back in, but this time, it is not to cry. She touches her lips to mine, making me jerk back from the contact.
"I-I'm sorry, I just..." she says.
"I think you should go now," I say, "I'm not-I'm just not ready for a relationship yet okay?"
She turns from me, tears streaming down her face.
"I don't know what I just did, please forgive me... I'm sorry... not just to you, but to Tris too..."
With that, I leave the couch and walk towards the stairs.
"You know the way out," I say a little too harshly.
She runs to the door. Why do I hurt everyone that I meet? Why does life continually bring me down? And that's when I realize that I don't belong here. I need to start again, I need to be free. I leave the house, my mind a blur.
+++
I find myself jogging through Downtown Chicago, and eventually to the old Dauntless Headquarters. The tall glass building above it shows it from a distance, calling for it. When I get close enough, I begin to climb, despite my fear, up the ladder that attaches the suspended train tracks to the ground. I have no idea what I am going to do, but whatever it is, a nice adrenaline rush won't hurt.
