I wasn't expecting to make a 4th chapter for the Roommates series. Obviously I have no plot for it yet, so I'm going to have to work on that until next time. Since I've got this chapter prepared already I thought why not update with this series for now?

I apologize if the updates are a bit messy with me going back and forth with these two different series. I'm still not entirely back into the rhythm of writing fics again. I'll always rearrange the chapters so the book is more organized.

In her apartment~

Deflated, the officer plopped down to her pillow. She was rethinking the events of the day, feeling her disappointment.

Just when I thought I could finally solve this case....

Her phone rang, she took a deep breath but couldn't hide how downgraded she was.

"This is Officer Everlasting speaking."

"I take it that the interrogation didn't work out so well?" Her boss commented.

"He refuses to cooperate with me."

"I've taken a list of all shipments of the atropa belladona from two years ago, you could have a look at them instead if he still won't budge."

"He's the only sure lead I've got. He knows at least one of the suspects, I have to make him talk."

"I'll send you the list tomorrow."

Second attempt~
"Cards. Now." She demanded, determined to finally beat him.

"Easy there Detective. It's just a game."
"A game I've been losing in since we started! I will get those answers out of you Woods, I swear it!" The man was surprised from her demands and extreme desire to win. He almost felt intimidated. Almost.

A few tries later~
"All that talk and still nothing huh?" She was downright frustrated and his condescending attitude wasn't helping.

"You know what? Since you tried so hard, and this is kind of getting boring I'll answer one question you asked." She perked up and listened carefully.

"I don't know." Was all he said.

"Huh?"

"You've only asked one question so far. And that is my answer. I don't know how my hair got in that candy. I've never been near my friend when he makes it. Although I do steal those berries every once in a while. They taste good."

"Easy for you to say. It takes ten of those things to kill you.... wait a minute does he grow them?" She anxiously waited. He thought about it for a moment.

"I'm sorry, but did you win already?" She deflated and frowned.

I guess he still wants me to beat him. At least I got confirmation that the suspect makes his own candy.

"Do you know why I'm so bad at this?" She grumbled.

"Because you don't know how to play?" He smugly replied.

"It was that obvious, huh?"

"Well, that. And because you didn't even notice I was cheating." He admitted with a cheeky smile that went wider.

"All this time and you still- what was I expecting? You're basically a d*mn animal locked in a cage." She had an outburst.

Usually it only shows when she was with another man whose name she did not want to mention. But this was more aggravating than all those other times.
