Chapter 6
I found myself inside a strange compound. There were several buildings dotted about, and even one massive skyscraper. I walked in an awed daze around, marveling at the architecture and almost forgetting that I was now a freak, thanks to Rythian. But I felt a cool blade against my neck, and someone kneed me in the back, making me fall to the ground, the sudden motion making the blade dig into my skin a little.
"Don't even think about moving, or I'll slit your throat." The person growled into my ear.
Why is it that most people I meet want to kill me? The blade was withdrawn from my neck, instead placed at my back, and he jabbed it in, making me get to my feet and move forwards. We went down underground, and I thankfully noted that my hair was covering my elf ears, before he threw me across the room and pressed a button, making bars slam down from the ceiling.
Regaining the ability to speak, I asked sadly, "Why am I here? What've I done to you?"
"It's what you could do to me that I'm worried about." He retorted.
I put my head on one side. "Why?"
"You're half robot for Notch's sake! For all I know you could be full robot, just disguised to be partly human, and I don't know the power you hold just yet. So, for the mean time..." He got out a gun, and shot a bullet near my shoulder, probably in the bone, then another in my stomach. "That should keep you weakened enough so that you don't try anything."
With that, he left, chuckling. My weird eye thing told me that his name was Sjin. I didn't bother moving from my position of laying awkwardly on the floor, knowing that if I did the pain would increase to unbearable levels. So I just closed my eyes, imagining what everyone else would be doing right now. The Honeydew Inc. crew would probably be working on the Jaffa factory, Martyn and Toby would be doing whatever in the forest, Rythian... yeah, he'd probably come to find me. As if my thoughts summoned him, I heard yelling upstairs, then footsteps, and I pretended to be asleep.
"You fool! Why did you harm her?!" Rythian screamed, probably looking at me.
"Why does she mean so much to you?" Sjin replied flatly.
"She is the last water elf, and let's just say I made some 'adjustments' to her." I could feel the tension rise, and sense that these two people didn't get along well.
Sjin snorted. "Whatever. You have her, I don't care. She certainly seems useless to me."
The scraping of metal signalled that the bars had been lifted, and I felt myself be picked up surprisingly gently by who I assumed was Rythian. When I felt a cool breeze on my face I knew that we were outside again, and I could easily escape if I wanted to. Except I knew, once again, that I was too weak to even try to use any magic. So I stayed where I was, held in Rythian's arms, where I was secure. I cautiously opened my eyes, automatically tensing up when I saw that we were in the air, flying.
"Hi, Infinity. I knew you were awake the whole time." He said gently.
"Why... huh... what?!" I exclaimed, confused as to why he was acting like he cared about me now.
"Sorry about... you know... but I wasn't in control then."
I stared at him, utterly confused.
"Look, I'm half enderman, and occasionally I lose control. You can tell by my eyes. If they glow bright purple, that means the ender is the one working me. If my eyes are kind of dull, like now, it means it's me."
"Okay..."
"Sorry to say this, but I don't have a life stone yet, so I can't heal your limbs." He mumbled apologetically.
I gave him a thumbs up, then winced as I moved my shoulder.
"Yeah, or the bullet wounds..." Rythian grunted, then turned around.
Sjin was following us in the air, mining laser out. He shot again, this one hitting Rythian's head. We started to fall, seeing as he passed out. Magic, now would be a great time to work again! Then a thought struck me, and I reached into Rythian's pocket, pulling out the pendant and looping it around my neck. Instantly I felt stronger, and I ran my fingers along the each line, thinking about flying, and I stopped falling. I narrowed my eyes then grabbed Rythian, then lowered both of us to the ground, carrying him. As soon as my feet touched the floor I started to run, and I sprinted into the forest. We came into a clearing, and I skidded to a halt, gasping for air, but Sjin was too close behind. I couldn't do anything on my own, so I screamed, ducking as the spaceman zoomed over my head. Shortly after hearing hurried footsteps, Martyn burst into the Inthelittlecorp clearing with Toby coming out a little after.
"What, what's going on?!" The blond yelled, clearly not recognising me, but that didn't matter.
I pointed to the sky where Sjin was hovering, before quickly dodging as a red laser beam hit the ground where I was a moment before.
"Sjin, what're you doing? Why are you attacking them?" He questioned, still not doing anything to help.
The spaceman laughed darkly. "That girl is very valuable. Unfortunately also hard to get."
"Nothing is solved by violence." Martyn said calmly, coming to my side. "It's best if you leave, Sjin."
Sjin frowned angrily, before speeding off again in the direction of Sips co.. I ignored the pain from my wounds and looked to Rythian. His breathing was shallow and faltering, then it stopped. I panicked, but then placed my hands on his chest. Concentrating, I felt the magic flow through me, then into the enderchild, and I felt his chest rise and fall again, before opening my eyes.
I smiled weakly, then felt exhaustion sweep over me now that the rush of adrenaline had left. I passed out next to him on the grass.
