Chapter 7
"Come on- you can make it through this! Don't die on me now!" A wavering voice whispered.
It was dark. Strange. But on the floor there were grey steps, so I decided to follow them, and soon I came to a person wearing a dark hooded cloak which hid their face. They beckoned me forwards with a hand, and I noticed it was just bone, which creeped me out. I don't think I like this person... thing. It waved it's hand again, more quickly, and I still didn't budge, but then it stormed up to me and grabbed my shirt, dragging me along the ground while I struggled to escape and go back up the steps. We came to a massive black door, and he threw me towards it, and as I was in the air it opened, much like a giant mouth ready to swallow me. I wanted to get away, but there was nothing to hold onto in the air, just lots and lots more air.
"Please! Don't die! Come back to us!" The voice spoke up again, but it was fainter. "Toby, go get someone to help, and be quick!"
Toby... who was he? I kind of recognised the name but couldn't put my finger on it. But they wanted me to come back... I guess... how? As if in reply the pendant around my neck glowed a faint blue, and just before I got eaten by the door I ran my fingers along the wavy line. The effects were immediate- I stopped in the air and fell to the ground. Taking my chance, I got up and quickly sprinted back along the path, the cloaked skeleton person following me. There, the stairs, I stumbled up them, and at one point it grabbed the bottom of my shirt, but the fabric just ripped off and I managed to get free again. I had reached the top. There was a light glowing from the floor. The voices seemed stronger here, and new determination swept over me. With a final, joyous leap, I entered the light.
"She won't come back... it's been too long, it's too late..." The voice said.
No. No it's not. I can do this.
"Wait! There's a heartbeat!" A different voice said, seeming to have an accent.
That's right. I'm coming back!
"She's breathing!" The first voice exclaimed, disvelieving.
I opened my eyes. Two men were staring at me. One was blond with a green shirt and black headband, the other wearing mostly black clothes and a dark mask that covered the lower half of his face. Don't forget the purple eyes. Martyn and Rythian. My mouth twitched into a weak smile.
"I have a will to live."
"I can see that." Martyn said, shaking his head in shock.
I turned my head to Rythian. "Don't go Ender-y again, please. Just sayin'. By the way, how did I die?"
"You used up all your magic bringing me back to life, hence killing yourself. It was foolish, but I guess I have to say thanks." Rythian chuckled. "Thank Notch you were the water elf, no normal person would have enough magic to bring someone back to life."
"Hold on, did you just say 'Water elf', as in the second to last elf left everywhere?" Martyn exclaimed.
"Yep. Look." I neatened my hair so that it showed my elf ears, the right one having the symbol on.
A grin spread across Martyn's face, and he took off his headband. He had elf ears too.
"Wha...?!" Was all I could say.
"I'm the last earth elf. Can talk to the forest, control it too." He explained.
I leapt off the bed that I was in, launching myself at Martyn and wrapping my arms around his neck as I hugged him. In the process my pendant had come out from underneath my shirt, and he pushed me away, staring at it.
"Is that...?"
"It's a thing, yes." I replied.
Then to my utter confusion he got down on his knees and bowed down to me.
