The plane ride there honestly wasn't that bad. I got a seat next to Avi, and he fell asleep on my shoulder. We've been dating for a month and... two weeks, I think? He still seems uninterested sometimes, but I try to ignore it. I've gotten better at that. Because he's still really sweet... even if the farthest we've really gotten is an intense makeout session. But do you see me complaining?
Things just got more and more awkward between me and Scott. I guess we really did get out all our feelings for each other during sex. But that's probably not like, healthy mentally anyways.
I've been a little more cautious about telling Kirstie stuff ever since she told me she was friends with Scott. Of course I'm going to let her have her own friends, I'm happy for her. I just... after I got used to the idea, I just waned to make sure. Of course I trust her. But she could always let something slip on accident...
So I've gotten closer with Kevin. He's really trustworthy, I learned; not that I expected any less from him, I mean. He's a really good listener like Kirstie, too.
"You talk about Scott a lot." I got so mad when he said that yesterday. He's my roommate and I've hated him since middle school, of course I'm going to talk about him! And I can't exactly go up to Avi and be like "Hey, so remember when me and Scott used to have sex?"
Here we are. In LA, California. It wasn't until we actually stepped outside that it really hit me. We might be on TV. We have a chance to win ten thousand dollars. And a fucking record deal! Avi looked at me smiling wide, and smiled back.
"Exciting, isn't it?" He put his arm over my shoulder and I looked up at him.
"Yeah."
Scott bumped my shoulder as he passed me. I looked up, and he was talking to Kirstie and Kevin. Our eyes met for a second, but he looked away before I had the chance to. Avi tapped me and I looked up again, only to be met with a kiss.
"Get a room." Said Scott.
Kirstie was thinking right now that god, Scott couldn't be any more obviously jealous. But of course, I didn't know that.
Our hotel wasn't the fanciest, but it looked really nice. The elevator ride up, everyone went kind of silent.
"I can't believe this is happening." Kirstie finally broke the silence. We all just kind of nodded, and soon the click of the metallic doors let us out. The hallway was long, and a little bland.
"I heard this hotel is haunted." Said Scott as we walked along. "They say that about every hotel." replied Avi.
The other day I had told Kirstie the exact thing Scott said. He was in the room, too. God damn. Stealing my information like that. Maybe it was better though, because Avi definitely didn't seem interested.
"Uh... yeah." I said. "They always say that."
I could basically feel Kirstie and Scott looking at me, but I made a point to not even glance at them. Soon we made it to the rooms. We had wanted to save money, so we just got two hotel rooms, with two beds each. Me and Avi were going to share one, and everyone else would have their own bed. Kirstie agreed to staying with us, so Kevin and Scott had the other room.
I don't know why, but I felt a little... not jealous. Upset? Sad that Scott wasn't in my room? Maybe it was because we make such good conversation in our little fights, I don't know.
What Kirstie had said still stuck with me. That me and Scott were perfect for each other. Like puzzle pieces. I thought about what he'd said about ghosts earlier. But then I quickly stopped thinking about that, and began to unpack my things.
Soon Kirstie went to go get some ice, and me and Avi were alone. Oh, did I forget to mention something?
Apparently, Avi's vanilla. Like, you know. Not "kinky." And that's not exactly how I... like to go about things sometimes. I tried to get more out him, but it was about as successful as it would be to talk to a brick wall.
I wasn't changing myself for him though. Just... being agreeable. Right?
I wonder if Scott's kinky... I bet so...
Wait, no. Stop. You're dating Avi, Mitch. You can't think about Scott like that anymore. You don't even like him.
"Mitch."
I looked up at Avi. I must have been lost in thought.
"Yeah?"
He walked towards me and put his hands on my hips. I looked into his eyes and I felt my breath get caught in my throat.
"We're... going out for breakfast tomorrow, right?" I whispered. He nodded, and just... looked at me. It made me a little nervous.
Then he put his hand softly under my chin and lifted it up, pressing his lips to mine. I smiled into it and started to kiss back, the exchange getting more and more heated. He backed up so I fell to the bed on top of him, and I gasped softly.
"Kirstie's going to be back any second..."
"She probably stopped by their room." He said, and started to kiss down my neck. I murmured, enjoying the feeling.
"Mm... I don't know..."
He put his hands under my shirt, and I jumped a little. They were cold. He just chuckled went up to kiss my lips again. We smiled at each other, and it was a sweet moment.
Then, one moment exactly after the other, grabbed my ass and Kirstie walked back through the door.
