“This is so beautiful,” I sighed, looking out the window of the cabin as it snowed outside. In the middle of nature, all of the trees were frosted with snow and the ground was covered in a layer of white powder that was at least a foot deep that we had to trudge through to get inside but now that we were inside, we weren’t going to leave until we had to go back home in a few days, on Sunday before school would start back up again.

“It is beautiful,” Carter agreed with me, wrapping his arms around my waist and kissing my cheek. “I’m glad that we came out here.”

“Me too,” I confirmed, leaning back into my wonderful boyfriend. “It definitely beats being back at the house where Will and Andy are going crazy over that stupid party. Were you ever so party crazed?”

“Yeah, a little bit,” He nodded. “I don’t know, they can be fun. Not so much when you’re not single but they can still be fun sometimes. I don’t mind missing them though, since I know that you don’t like them.”

“You’re the best boyfriend ever, you know,” I giggled, turning around in his arms and pressing a light kiss to his lips. “And I love you so much.”

“I love you too, Maddie,” He mumbled before ducking down and placing a soft, brief kiss on my lips. “What do you want to do now?”

With my hands on his chest, I grin against his lips. “Well, first, I’d like to make out like crazy and then I want to make some hot chocolate and cuddle on the couch while we watch some movies. Maybe later, if the snowing stops, I can pummel you in a snowball fight or something, and we can build a snowman.”

“That sounds like a really good plan,” Carter agreed with me, bending down and picking up my legs so that I was straddling his waist and he was holding all of my weight for me as he started walking us to the couch and I couldn’t hide just a few light giggles. “Except that I hope you don’t really expect to beat me at a snowball fight.”

We sit on the couch with me still straddling his waist and my breaths starting getting shorter and shorter. “I guess we’ll just have to see about that.”

He ran his fingers lightly from my shoulder down my side and then he starts tugging on the hem of my shirt in a teasing way, not actually lifting it off of my body. “I guess we will,” He muttered just before pressing his lips to mine.

The kiss was deep but slow and it lasted for a lot longer than I had planned. He was such an amazing kisser that it made my breaths short and my heart started to beat faster in my chest. I was sure that he was leaving a hickey on my neck but I didn’t tell him to stop because it felt so incredibly amazing and it had a few days to heal anyway.

By the time that we’d stopped kissing on the small couch in the living room, both of our shirts had been lost and Carter had been working on the stubborn button of my jeans when his phone started to ring, interrupting our intense kiss. I slid off of my boyfriend’s lap and he leaned over to the side table and grabbed his phone from there where it was sitting, vibrating against the wood.

I sat silently beside him, working hard to catch my breath as I slid my shirt back over my chest and listened to Carter talk to whoever just called him.

“Hello?” He answered, trying his best to catch his breath just like I was. “No, why? What’s up?”

There was a silence as he listened to the person on the other side of the phone.

“Ethan, I can’t understand you,” He said and then there was another pause before he said, “You’re drunk. What’s happening?”

I got off of the couch and went into the kitchen to start making hot chocolate so that we can watch some movies for a while until it’s midnight so that we can watch the ball drop in New York on TV and share a New Year kiss. I could still hear Carter on the phone in the living room though.
