"Dude, my parents are literally going to kill me!" Vanity ranted as she and her friend Morgan walked past yet another street.
"I should've never agreed to go to that party. It is midnight! I have a history test tomorrow, a Spanish paper due next week, a chemistry project and—"
"Stop worrying!" Morgan exclaimed, effectively cutting her off. "You will do fine on your test, I promise. You are literally the smartest person I know! Somehow, you can retain every single piece of information that Ms. Wellington throws at you. You will be fine."
Vanity looked at Morgan and nodded, seemingly agreeing with her.
Not.
Seconds later, Vanity threw her hands up in the air and declared, "There is no way I am going to get enough rest for my test tomorrow!"
She shook her head and pointed an accusing finger at Morgan before she said, "Darn you Morgan, you know how much I value sleep!"
Morgan rolled her eyes and smoothed down her gray/silver colored no-sleeve, mid-thigh, dress.
Morgan pointed just ahead of them and mumbled, "Welp, there's the short cut. We just cut through there and we'll be at your house in five minutes, tops."
Vanity looked at where her friend was pointing and scratched the back of her neck.
She adjusted her dresses's collar before she stuffed her hands in its long front pocket. She then proceeded to subconsciously pull down the dress and fiddle with its sleeves, pulling them over her wrists.
"I dunno Morgan, that's an alley. Nothing good ever really happens in alleys. Aladdin isn't going to pop out with Abu and save us." (A/N If you know the movie Aladdin, you know the scene kinda similar to this. It is in the beginning w/ the girl and her little brother...)
"Oh for Pete's sake do you want to get home and sleep or not?! Come on! I refuse to stay in these heels much longer than necessary. Let's just cut through and you'll be home in no time!"
With that, Morgan marched past Vanity and made her way down the alley without looking back once.
I wish I could be that confident, Vanity thought to herself.
