I waited for Erza to come out from talking to the client. From what I could gather she really didn’t need me for this mission I was sure she brought me along because she’s an amazing friend who just realised I was going through a crappy time and needed to get out of town.
“So what do we do now?” I asked as she exited the clients shop.
“We do our job” she said smiling brightly at me
“Which is...?” I dragged out as I actually still wasn’t sure.
“We’re protecting this.” She said lifting the flap of a satchel I just noticed she didn’t have before.
I saw a flash of diamonds and my head spun toward the shop window. It was a jewellery store.
We walked towards where the motels in the town were and I was waiting for Erza to turn off into one but she kept walking.“Erza where are we going?”
“We’re almost there” she insisted
A few minutes later we stopped in front of some flashy resort I blinked stupidly at her“This is part of the mission?” I asked.
She shook her head“No but there’s nothing to say we can’t enjoy ourselves while we’re here”
I perked up a bit a little pampering sounded pretty damn good if you asked me. I linked my arm through hers as we headed to the front desk to book our room.
“Here” Erza said throwing a bikini at my face as she unpacked her millions of bags she always insisted she needed whenever she went away on a mission. I held up the swim suit thinking it looked exactly like mine when it dawned on me.“You planned this?” I asked surprised. She gave me the most triumphant look
“Of course I did. Did you really think it takes me an hour to get ready?!” she said as if it was obvious as she said that she also tossed a small suitcase onto my bed.
I opened it but had a feeling I knew what was in there and just as I suspected I found clothes mostly dresses for going out in. As I stared at the suitcase I heard a strange noise before a loud crash erupted in the room.
Looking around I found three familiar faces toppled on top of eachother in front of the now open closet. Lucy, Juvia and Wendy aI Levi all looked up smiling at me sheepishly.
I threw my arms around Erza in a hug and whispered“Thank you... Erza” she didn’t say anything back but she didn’t need to.
It was official. Erza Scarlet was my best friend.
“So I vote we go swimming first!” Wendy insisted
“Me too!” Juvia chimed in.
“Alright so the plan is swimming, then Mani Pedi’s topped off with a night out of dinner and dancing” Erza announced.
I went along with whatever, I was just happy to be away having fun with the girls. I dove back into the pool letting myself sink to the bottom and just sat there.
The last time I tried to do this I was yanked out of the river by Laxus. Immediately my heart hurt thinking about the way he held me, a look of worry across his face.
LIAR.
My brain instantly screamed at me. I shook the thought from my mind I shouldn’t be thinking about him anyway. My friends were here to cheer me up and I was letting them down by thinking of him.
I rose back to the surface and decided to get out and dry myself off. Lucy walked over
“Who’s ready to get mani Pedi’s?!” she yelled
All the girls squealed with excitement as they exited the pool and headed inside. I decided to get the full treatment mani pedi as well as a facial, body scrub and massage.
What was the use of working so much if I didn’t get to indulge myself once in a while.
I was so relaxed enjoying the way my muscles felt under the pressure of the massage therapists hands. So far my fingers had been painted a beautiful pale lilac with delicate lace patterns drawn in white.Once I as all scrubbed and polished we headed back to our rooms, we dressed for a night out and Erza made me wear some black slinky little sparkly number that ended mid thigh. Looking in the mirror I looked and felt like a new woman it made me happy... Even though it was only temporary.
I think out of everyone Wendy was enjoying herself the most out on the dance floor. Although that’s probably due to all the cake she ate at the buffet. I was trying my best not to be a downer and keep up with her but the heels Erza gave me were killers and I had to sit down.
We all rolled into our beds just after midnight sweating and exhausted. I had to shower it all off before climbing into bed while Erza and the others on the other hand were out like a light. They’d all decided to crash in our room on the floor and sofa like a little sleep over.
FFWD MORNING>>>I woke up early and decided to go down and order everyone breakfast and carried it back up to the room and started to brew coffee. At the smell everyone all started waking up and before I knew it the room was filled with the silence of eating.
I checked on the necklace in the safe and sure enough it was still there. The rest of he day was spent lounging by the pool in the sun, I’d manage to get a small tan from all the sunshine. Night was the same routine as the one before although my shoe choice was a little more sensible tonight and so I managed to dance the night away. This time I as the one waking up to the smell of breakfast and it was glorious.
“We have to get going soon Sabe” Lucy said“Yeah we promised the master we’d be there a day early to help with preparations for the festival” Wendy excitedly
I nodded giving each of them a hug and thanking them for being here.
When they were gone I turned to Erza“So what do we have left to do with this necklace” I said nodding in the direction if the safe.
“I’m glad you asked” she said with a tone of voice like she had something planned. She pulled out a massive chart from no where, I was quite amazed as to where she could’ve possibly kept it.
“Tomorrow the jewellery store owner is having a champagne breakfast party for his beloved daughter. We are holding on to this until he is ready to present it to her as his gift.
Apparently it was quite valuable and he was worried thieves would try and take it before he could give it to her.
