SABRIEL POV

When I woke I once again found myself in a bed, the familiar all white infirmary bed no less. The guild must have thrown one together because I remember the guild hall being destroyed. I sat up looking around the room. The rest of the wounded filled up the other beds. I got up walking over to Laxus, the others seemed like their condition had improved buy not his.

“Hes lucky to even be alive” the voice of Porlyusica sounded from next to me.

“ Will he be alright?” I asked

“Well he’s made it this far I wouldn’t count him out” she replied turning to leave.

I sat by his bed and held his hand like I did before. Day after day he was the same and so it stayed like that in the comings weeks. The others had all woken up one by one and I left his side for the first time in a while. They needed time with him, they’d been by his side a lot longer than I had.

When I wasn’t visiting Laxus I decided to go and help the town rebuild. It would be a slow process but we would get it back to the way it was in time. I returned to my apartment, it was one of the lucky ones that had hardly any damage. When I walked inside though it didn’t feel like home and I didn’t like that feeling.

I decided to pack up everything it was time for a change I thought. I rubbed my belly that was hardly even a bump yet thinking we needed a change it was time to start thinking of the future.

I asked around town about the cottage in the forest I was determined to buy it. I was going to raise our child there. It took all day but I finally tracked someone who knew something.

“ Well yes I did own it but I sold it a couple of months ago” the old lady said sitting across from me. She dug around in a file cabinet looking for the paperwork I assume.

“Do you know who to?” I asked desperately. She finally found what she was looking for as she closed the cabinet again.

“ Here we are! The new owner is Sabriel Cornerstone” she said looking over at me over her round rimmed glasses.

I blinked at her wondering if I’d heard her right.

“ Sabriel Cornerstone... But I’m Sabriel Cornerstone” I said and the lady obviously thought I was stupid.

She even gave me the piece if paper and there it was written in black and white was my name printed underneath the owner.

“How do you not remember your husband came to pick up the keys months ago. Although he forgot the spare so you may as well take them now” she said fishing a set of keys out of the draw and handing them to me.

“Husband?” I said

“Yes blonde fellow scar on his face. Quite a strapping young lad.” My heart melted when I realised Laxus had bought the house for me. For us, I realised.

“Thank you for your time” I said taking the keys and heading out the door.

I walked to the hardware store and bought as many supplies as I could carry. I took everything back to my current apartment and just decided to hire a magic mobile to take everything.

In the week that followed I’d found the master had disbanded the guild as everyone had decided to follow their own path and so my days consisted of visiting Laxus and moving my things to my new house. Once everything was there I unpacked and worked on making it our home. The supplies I purchased were for the nursery I was going to set up in our room.

The cot I’d bought was wooden with hanging white fabric that matched our bed and a little moon and star mobile that hung over top. I stuck with neutral colours for now until we knew if it was a boy or a girl. Once I’d finished filling the house with nick nacks and little homey things to make it our own I spent the days reminiscing about our time here and how happy we were and wondering if we would ever have that again.

I drifted off to sleep wondering how our lives would turn out but I was so tired I didn’t even get to think about it all that much.

I woke to the sound of someone calling my name I sat up looking around but there was no one there.

”Sabriel it’s Warren, you need to come to the guild hall now we think Laxus is waking up” at the very mention of his name I was up and running towards town willing myself to move faster and praying that this wasn’t a dream.
