I'm so sorry for not updating sooner, I've been feeling under the weather lately. I hope you enjoy.
*they are not dating in this story*
After a long shift the perfect thing to do was go to Molly's and relax. Half of the Intelligence Unit had agreed to go have a couple drinks and Erin had just left her apartment on her way to the bar at around 11 o'clock.
This bar had created a sort of safe haven for people in jobs like her. The firefighters and paramedics of House 51, the doctors and nurses at Chicago Med, and the cops at District 21 usually met up after shift because they all understand the type of days they've all had. Seeing people live, and die. They understood heartache all too well.
She hadn't felt like driving, fresh air is what she needed, but after reaching the corner of her street, Erin had a weird feeling in the pit of her stomach as if someone was watching her. It was probably nothing but her usual paranoid self, so she shook it off. When she neared the next corner thought, the feeling was still there. She turned around, but nothing.
She was halfway there when she passed an alley and was yanked by the arm while a hand flew over her mouth. She was pulled deep into the dimly lit alleyway, and duct tape was placed over her mouth as two strong hands held her arms behind her back.
She tried to pull herself free by kicking her feet but it was no use, who ever was behind her was too strong. She felt the burning of tears at her eyes but didn't want to seem weak, she's a Chicago police officer for Christ sake. She didn't know what they wanted or who they were but she knew it probably wouldn't end well.
Before she knew it she saw the outline of another male figure approach her. She felt a searing pain in her abdomen as the man's fist came in contact. The wind was immediately knocked out of her when another man hit her again in the stomach with what felt like a pipe.
By now she was on her knees, arms still pinned behind her back, and pain was radiating through her core. As she was about to stand back up, she felt a fist come in contact with her cheek, and then a second to the same place.
Now lying on the ground, no longer with arms pinned, she tried to get up but was kicked in the ribs, and hit with the pipe. The familiar metallic taste of blood was filling her mouth, she was throbbing in pain. After one final kick to the stomach, one of the men spoke up before walking away.
"Shouldn't have shot Russo, detective."
Then it all clicked, Russo was the killer in the last case they had, he was at a mall on a shooting rampage until Intelligence took him down, Erin specifically. The men must have been his three brothers, they were said to be close knit.
Slowly standing up on wobbly legs, she grabbed the wall for support and walked to the street. There was no way she was going to let anyone at Molly's see her like this, and she didn't even know if she could make it that far. She then realized there was a much better place to go. With a pounding headache and slightly blurred vision she made it there as fast as possible in her condition.
Jay hadn't felt up to Molly's tonight, he was exhausted and was just going to watch some tv and head to bed. As he got up to get a beer, he heard the buzzer ringing. He wasn't expecting any company tonight as he was going to go to sleep soon, so he debated on not answering.
"Hello?" he said with a slightly annoyed tone.
"Jay, it's Erin. Are you home alone?"
"Yeah, why?" his tone immediately changed to slightly worried, Erin didn't sound like herself.
"Can you buzz me up?"
"Umm, sure."
He quickly tidied up his living room, not knowing why his partner, his very attractive partner, was stopping by. He heard a knock at the door and went to open it, as it opened, anger and worry began to consume him.
