This idea is taken from Grey's Anatomy. Also this kinda sucks so I'm sorry about that, but please comment and let me know what you think.

Her eyes shot open as her throat started to close. She felt a pair of hands around her neck, closing. She couldn't get any air in.
There was a pounding on the door.
Her legs were flailing, hands scratching. She clawed at the arms that belonged to the pair of hands on her.
More pounding.
She pushed and pulled at the person on top of her, trying to get free. The hands were becoming tighter. Just when she was about to slip into unconsciousness, she had pushed him away.
The pounding stopped.
She ran to the bathroom, coughing. She tried to get air into her lungs, taking ragged breaths. She gripped the sink, starred into the mirror, and just breathed.
She got a text message, it was from Hank.
She couldn't look at it, she was focusing on breathing. Then it hit her, the person sitting on top of her, squeezing the life out of her. She knew him, hell she was in love with him. It was Jay. Jay had almost killed her.
She couldn't believe it. She knew he was dreaming, but still. It wasn't his fault and she knew that, but she had almost just died.
Slowly she made her way out to the bedroom, she didn't see him.
Then to the living room, and he was sitting on the floor, staring at his hands.
He couldn't believe what he had done, even if he was asleep. He had just choked Erin, with his own two hands. He almost killed her. He walked up to the bathroom door. He could hear her choking and coughing in the bathroom. He ran out to the living room, not wanting to hear it, what he had caused.
There was more pounding on the door.
"Erin! It's me, open the door!"
She ran quickly to the door, passing Jay as she went. She could feel his eyes on her. He stood up and debated on whether to walk over to her or not. Why should she want to see him right now, or ever for that matter.
She opened the door to see Hank.
"God Erin, its three in the morning. Your neighbor called me saying she heard a lot of noise coming from the apartment and when you didn't answer she got worried. What-"
He stopped short, he saw her neck. He saw the bright red hand prints, wrapping around her throat.
"What the hell happened?" He said, moving her hair out of the way so he could see it better in the hall lighting.
"Nothing, Jay-" she was cut off.
"Halstead?! He did this to you?" He started to move towards him at an alarming pace.
Erin moved in between the two, shoving her hands into Hank's chest, stopping him. He would've killed Jay then and there. She turned to Jay, who now happened to be only about three feet from her, then looked back at Hank.
"It wasn't his fault," she said calmly, trying to explain.
Jay sat on the couch, laying his head in his hands. They just now realized that he had tears streaming down his face.
"What do you mean 'it wasn't his fault'?"
"He had a nightmare, he was asleep when he did it," she said barely above a whisper.
