So I kind of took this idea from two different episodes of Law and Order: SVU. I hope you like it. And also to clear this up, the italics are from outside of the house point of view and the regular text is inside the house. Leave a comment and let me know what you think!

"Erin I'm scared!"

"I know honey, you're going to be fine. Jeremy, you need to let her go, now."

"She's my daughter too. My bitch of an ex-wife is not going to have her. You guys already took my son."

She was smack dab in the middle of a hostage negotiation. They had gotten a case of a murdered nanny. When the women who pays the nanny to watch her children came in and asked to see her children, they realized it had turned into a kidnapping.

They soon learned that the murder who had taken the children was Ms. McGuire's ex-husband, Jeremy McGuire. They tracked him down to the family's beach house on Lake Michigan. Jay and Erin were the first to arrive, and with two children's lives at stake they moved without back up.

When they entered they found Mr. McGuire in the kitchen, but the second he saw them he took off upstairs. They followed suit and found him in a room, clutching his two children and a gun. They convinced him to let one child go at a time. First came the four year old son, Timmy. Jay grabbed the child and ran out of the house.

When he got outside the rest of the unit had arrived along with a ton of patrolmen, he put the kid in the back of a squad car to keep him safe. When he tried to go back inside to his partner, Voight stopped him. He told him he wasn't allowed back in. Jay tried to fight him on it telling him she shouldn't be left in there without back up but Voight wasn't having it.

Now she's in the house alone, trying to save six year old Ruby from her father. What he didn't know was that she had called Jay. He was on the phone with her, hearing everything that was happening.

"Jeremy, listen to me. There is no way you can get custody now, you killed a woman. You're going to go to jail. Let her go."

"No, she's my daughter. You aren't taking her."

"Listen, there's no need to scare her like this, let her go please. You don't need her, you only need me. I'm your ticket out of here alive. Trust me."

He froze. She was going to switch places. She's intentionally putting herself in danger.

"Fine. You're not leaving though."

"Okay, in going to call my partner in, he will take her outside and then it's just you and me."

He nodded.

"Jay," she said as she spoke into her radio as if he didn't already hear everything. "He's going to let Ruby go. I need you to come in here, unarmed, to come and get her."

"On my way," he replied.

A minute later he showed up. McGuire let Ruby go and she sprinted into Jay's arms. He picked her up and looked to Erin.

"I'm gonna be fine Jay, get her out of here. She's traumatized enough."

Once they heard the door shut, she spoke again, "Now its just you and me."

He ran outside, put Ruby into the same squad car as her brother and sent it to the hospital to meet their mother.

He went back to the cars that Intelligence was surrounding, re-holstering his gun. They surrounded Jay's phone so they could all hear what was going on inside. They could hear Erin and McGuire talking.

"Look, this is easy. If you want to get out of here alive, you need to take me with you."

"What do I do?"

"I'll put my gun in my holster, you walk out with me in front of you. You can even put the gun to my head if it makes you feel better. They aren't going to risk shooting a cop."

What on earth was she doing? She was going to get herself killed. The snipers on the neighbor's roof were instructed to take a shot when they had one. She could get hit.

He was too preoccupied by thinking of all the bad outcomes that he hadn't even realized the door opening until he heard yelling.

It was McGuire telling everyone to stand back. He had his left arm wrapped tightly around her torso, and his gun nuzzled up to her head. One pull of the trigger and she'd be gone forever.

His attention was immediately drawn to her face. She was searching the crowd for him, and when she spotted him he could see her visibly relax. They're eyes never broke contact.

That's when it happened.

A gunshot.

It was from a sniper on the roof.

Except McGuire didn't fall, they both did.

The second they hit the ground all hell broke loose.

Intelligence swarmed the two, patrol cops following close behind. Jay was in the lead and he could see movement from the pile but didn't know who it was coming from. McGuire had landed on top of her, it could be him trying to get up or her trying to get him off.

Once he reached them, he dropped to his knees and pulled McGuire off of her. He saw the bullet hole in his head, but she was covered in blood as well.

"Erin? Can you hear me? Are you alright? Are you hurt?" He frantically checked her for any bullet wounds.

"I'm okay, I'm okay. The blood is his."

"Thank god. You scared the shit out of me Erin."

He pulled her in close to his chest, cradling her.

He looked up at Voight and the rest of the team and nodded, signaling that she was fine.

He leaned down and kissed her forehead.

She was with him again. She was safe.
