This one is a little different, I hope you like it anyways😊

*dating for about 5 years, not married but are super committed*

As Jay was walking up to the doors of the District, hoping not to catch the wrath of an angry Voight for being late, he saw a box besides the steps. He walked back down the steps figuring he might as well check it out since he's already late, what's a few more minutes? Once he opened the box he saw a note.

"Her name is Emily Serena, born January 5th, 2017 at 9:18 am. 7 pounds 3 ounces and 20 inches long. She had surgery for a hole in her heart when she was born, and two other following that to completely correct the problem. I'm sorry to do this but I wasn't fit to be a mom, please make sure she's safe."

He quickly realized what was happening after he looked up and saw the 'Safe Haven' sign. He pulled back the pink fuzzy blanket and saw a little baby, wriggling around and smiling. She was in a pink onesie and had on a purple jacket. Whoever left her here obviously cared about her, didn't want her to freeze. He shoved the note in his pocket and picked up the little girl who was apparently named Emily.

Even though it was March, winters in Chicago were brutal and she was actually warm, her skin wasn't cold at all. He held her tight to his chest and grabbed the blanket to put over her. She giggled as the walked up the steps and grabbed his thumb. Luckily there weren't too many patrol officers on the main floor and Platt wasn't at her desk to make any snarky comments so he made it to the stairs quickly.

Once he buzzed up and walked upstairs, everyone in the unit was at their desks and they looked up to him since he was late. Ruzek had started to joke but then saw the baby.

"Hey Jay, you know lunch time isn't when wor- what the hell?"

"Who's baby is that?" asked Antonio when they all realized what he was holding.

"I found her outside, wrapped in a blanket in a box under the Safe Haven sign. I'm going to take her to Med to get checked out."

He walked into Voight's office, ready to apologize.

"Look I know I'm late, and I'm really sorry about it but I need to go to Med. I found this little girl outside and it's freezing out and the note she was left with said she had heart surgery before so I wanted to make sure everything is okay."

"Go ahead, and I don't care you that you were late, you got lucky that it was a slow day, just don't make it a habit. Have Erin drive you."

"Will do, thanks Sargent."

He walked out and headed with Erin to the car. She got in her usual drivers seat and him in the passengers but this time it didn't bother him. He sat down with Emily in his lap. She sat there giggling and smiling back at him. Jay would tickle her and she would burst into laughter.

"She really is adorable. Was there a note or anything?" asked Erin.

"Yeah, it said she was born two months ago and that she had a hole in her heart that was fixed with surgery." he responded.

"Wow, two months and already had a surgery?"

"Actually three of them, two follow up ones after the main one."

"What a little trooper."

They arrived at Med and walked up to the hospital, Jay carrying Emily like she was sitting in a chair. Once they were in the ED, they caught the attention of Will.

"What do we have here?" asked Will as he played with Serena's feet. "We normally don't have two cops bringing in a baby."

"Found her outside the District this morning. The note she was left with said she is two months today and has had three heart surgeries. Figured I'd come in and get her checked out." Jay informed handing Will the note from his pocket.
