Chapter 8: Kat's POV

I picked my shift. Having a lot of demigods on the quest came in handy. I felt reckless. We already encountered a monster the first day, and there were more to come. I hoped Keto wouldn't seek revenge. Being a child of Hermes came in handy. While battling the monster, I stole some things from her like this necklace thing. She got super angry at me. I just shrugged at her. I couldn't help it.

After the battle was over, I got some food and went to bed. I of course had nightmares:

"They are coming, Lord," a voice said. I stood in the darkness only hearing voices.

"Fine by me. It is all in my plan," an ancient, powerful voice replied. The ancient voice maniacally laughed. I shuddered.

"They won't return alive," the other voice said. My dream shifted. I was being chased by the hydra from my past. It spit poison at me. I lunged but some poison got on me. It stung even in a dream. I yelped. I walked up the road and saw Camp Half-Blood. The hydra tackled me and was about to take the kill when I woke up. I checked my watch. It was 6:30 a.m. I heard some rustling outside. It must've been Earth who took one of the night shifts. I tried to go back to sleep but I couldn't. The lingering thought of the hydra kept pressing into my skull.

The next few hours, I got dressed, took a shower, and did some other things. We decided to Iris message Chiron to see if he had any updates for us.

We startled him. He was at a weird cottage place, and he was brushing his teeth. "Hello, children," he told us.

"Chiron, we battled Keto yesterday," Xenia reported.

"My opinion is to keep going straight south. I really think that's right," Indie added.

In the background I heard someone yell, "Sweetie! Breakfast is ready!" We looked confused. Chiron looked like he was in a hurry.

"I gotta go. My--er--wife is calling," Chiron said. Since when did he have a wife?

"You have a wife?" I asked, astonished.

"Yes. Why does that surprise you?"

"I-I never knew that," I admitted.

"Hey, you're not alone. I didn't know either," Alexandria said.

"What's her name?" Earth asked.

"Her name is Chariclo. I really have to go," he replied.

In the background again she yelled even louder, "For centaur's poop! Get down here! Your breakfast is getting cold!" She sounded more like a grumpy old lady than a wife.

"Don't go! We need instructions!" Adam said.

"Yo, dad!" someone yelled in the background. "Mom's waiting!" Another thought struck my head. Chiron had kids. Weird.

I raised an eyebrow at Chiron. "You have kids also?"

"Yes. Bye!" he replied.

"I'm so looking that up," Maika said. She brought out her newly cracked iPad and tapped for a while. "Ok. It says here that Chiron had a son named Tiresias that saw Athena...not clothed and struck him blind. He begged her to have his sight returned, but instead she gave him the gift of prophecy."

"Now that's a weird story," Xenia said.

"I agree," Darci replied.

A new figure appeared out of nowhere. He said, "Let's have a nice meeting."
