Chapter 21: Darci's POV

The guy repeatedly kept apologizing. He was tan with black hair and a beard. I've seen him in some pictures. He was Poseidon. We bowed to him.

"Bah! No need for that, demigods. I have come to visit you," he said cheerfully.

"Can't you get us off this island?" I asked desperately.

"Sadly, the ancient laws restricted me from helping demigods directly when they are on their quest. I can, though, provide you quality information and cook you a delicious meal," he replied. My stomach rumbled. Fair deal.

"Proceed," Derek said.

"Crab legs, anyone?" Poseidon offered. Suddenly, crab legs and other seafood dishes appeared on platters. I didn't object.

"Let's talk," Kat said.

"You were definitely blown down south, no thanks to that goofball Notus. Your friends are 207 miles away from you directly north. I can say that they will arrive but will have a struggle on the way." Poseidon winced as if the subject was painful.

"What's going to happen?" I asked warily.

"I'm sorry, my dear, but you will have to figure it out on your own time. If we told you, the world could be chaos," Poseidon replied.

"Hey, my mom's Eris. I know chaos," Derek said lightly, trying to cheer us up. I gave him the not now look, and he shrugged.

"I guess so," Kat murmured. She bit into a huge piece of shrimp. "Where did you get this huge shrimp? Oh my gods! It's so big!" Poseidon smiled with pride. They were straying from the subject. Ok, not good.

"I sent a dream to them, Poseidon. I hoped it worked," I said.

"Unfortunately, it did not work the way you planned. Good news, it might just help you!" Poseidon smiled. I examined his hands. They were scarred up like an old fisherman's. He did some magic, and a very big-- I mean the size of your head huge-- hook appeared. He then got out a sea green backpack. He slipped the hook inside, and it shrunk.

"Here," he handed it to me. I put it on my shoulders; it felt very light.

"It's waterproof, of course," he smiled.

"And Kat," he made a deck of cards appear, "My advice is that you should get better at playing cards." Kat took the deck of cards gratefully. The deck of cards shrank into a locket necklace. She immediately put it on.

"Thanks, Lord Poseidon," she said gratefully.

"And Derek," Poseidon made a wicked Stygian Iron sword appear, "You will need this eventually." Derek took it, and it re-shaped itself into a belt.

"Cool!" he exclaimed. "Thank you, Lord!"

"I must go. Use it wisely!" Poseidon said. And with that, he vanished only leaving an aroma of sea breeze.
