Before we knew it, the hour passed, and soon guards came knocking on our door.
We didn't need to open it, because of corse they'd knock the door down.
We were lead into a small golf-cart that was painted dark green with vertical black stripes.
I sat between the first and last row of seats, with my sister in the back, and the guards in the front.
Where I sat we had to squeeze, especially since we had a new addition to our team.
As ordinary as the cart seemed, it went very fast. We sped past road after road, street after street.
Soon, we were in the middle of a large desert, one that was a bright orange-red color.
The desert seemed to become our permanent scenery, while the clouds and plants seemed to change.
After riding for a while, the ground became bumpy, and cracked.
The guards increased speed, and the cart left a trail of scarlet red dust behind.
The desert seemed to go on forever, the red seemed to stretch for miles.
I grew uncomfortable in my seat, but that didn't last long.
Minutes later we came to a stop, and the guards quickly jumped out of the cart.
They began to run through the desert, leaving us behind.
"Wait! Where are you going?" I shouted.
My voice echoed, bouncing from mountain to mountain.
But there was no response.
The dust cleared the path the guards went, but they weren't there.
They left us. They're gone.
I didn't know if I was supposed to be relieved, or scared.
The dessert stilled into a peaceful silence. The scene was majestic.
But soon an unpleasant sound interrupted the beautiful silence.
A bird sound, from the sky. Another, and another. We looked up.
About five shadows of birds, hovering near the sun, circling each other.
"Vultures." I heard Miku say.
They won't hurt us, right?
I doubted they would come to us, but already my friends each grabbed a weapon.
As if they knew, the birds darted down.
Each emitting loud squawks, they quickly flew towards us.
As one came close, I noticed a small metal ring attached on its leg.
It read : Vord Inc. #1762
Vincent? These are his?
Are they even birds? Their wings surely were just feathers attached to something.
Their eyes glowed a slight green, as if they were only small lightbulbs.
These aren't birds! What are they!?
One of them came at me, as if I were a target programmed into his head.
I ducked, he flew past us, but quickly turned back again.
Another one came toward Callie, but missed.
Then two of them darted at Svetlana, each at high-speed.
She threw a spear in the air, piercing one of the bird's wing.
It shrieked in horror, turned around and knocked into the other one.
