December 31

11:57 PM

My heart pounded.

It raced as fast as my legs. I wanted to stop, but they were chasing me, chasing us.

I kept running. But I couldn't escape. I didn't know this place. None of us do. It's the enemies' den.

No matter how hard I try, we'd still be here, in a restricted desert, full of them.

We were like lost mice in a science experiment maze planned out by masterminds.

Next to me was Miku, carrying my half-alive little sister.

Who if weren't for me, would be home, sleeping, holding her teddybear and dreaming about marshmallows.

But here we are, running from our doom.

"There it is!" Shouted Svetlana as she threw another spear into the air and knocked out one of them.

I looked at the direction she pointed to. There it was. The stone, sitting on a nearby cliff, like a queen on her throne.

The stone, beautiful at sight, full of magic, and power, to fix this whole mess, to bring us home, and make things like they were yesterday, when we never met.

"Well go get it!" Shouted Callie, the only normal one of us. I wish I could. But none of us could get away from them.

The ground shook, like, hard. It shook more than it ever did.

I couldn't keep running anymore. I needed to stop.

But I didn't just stop. I fell.

I collapsed on my knees and hands.

I could only watch as my friends kept running, and they kept chasing.

I could only watch the Imagi stone sit there, patiently waiting.

I could only count the amount of time we had left before midnight. Not a lot.

Moments later, they caught up to my friends.

But not just them, they were joined by the birds that we supposedly ditched.

Weapons were being used. A fight began.

I couldn't sit and watch anymore.

The rage had returned to me.

I got up. I aimed an arrow, and whoosh.

One of them went down.

I aimed another.

Whoosh, whoosh.

But before I could aim another I was swooped off my feet.

The bird that I'd pierced with a spear carried me into the air, his hole remained.

He dropped me off in the middle of the fight.

Literally, dropped.

When I hit the ground a crack formed.

It spread throughout the fight.

Svetlana threw spears, Miku worked with his crossbow, with Koko hanging on his back, and Callie swung an ax around.

I picked a few throwing stars and threw them at the birds.

I missed a few times, but after a few more I was an expert at it.

I aimed for the wings, neck, and eyes.

I'd disabled most of the birds when I ran out of stars.

Then I picked up a spear and started swinging it around.
