SHADOW'S POV

"You know, I am actually looking forward to this," Vince spoke happily as we headed back to my home, our arms were laden with carrier bags filled with supplies. "It has been a while since I tortured someone."

"We're doing this to get answers," I reminded him, a pointed expression on my face. "Not for fun."

"That is why you're doing it. Me? I am here to have fun."

"You're a psychopath." I rolled my eyes, mouth twitching.

"We are all psychopaths." He shot back.

I shrugged. It wasn't like I could deny it, after all.

"So, about your pretty little girlfriend..." Vince swiftly changed the topic, wiggling his eyebrows at me. "Deflowered her yet?"

My brows furrowed at that, thinking back to when Violet told me she wasn't a virgin like I'd suspected. And to think that I'd been holding off so as not to rush things... I shouldn't have bothered. She clearly wanted me just as much as I wanted her and knowing that brought a smirk to my face.

She was taking the whole vampire thing extremely well though, apart from the little freak out at the beginning. She was doing better than most newborn vampires, that was for sure, and I wasn't sure whether I was more proud or turned on by that fact. She was extremely fucking sexy when she was feeding, I don't care how twisted that makes me and afterwards, when she threw herself at me, I can't say I didn't like that either because I really did fucking like it. A little too much, perhaps.

"That's none of your business." I snapped at Vince, not wanting to talk about my sex life, or lack thereof. Well, for now anyway. First chance I got, I was going to rectify that.

"Well, from what Leah has told me, you brought her here against her will when she was a mere human. What made you do that?"

"I was protecting her." I replied. The fucking man that was following her, mumbling to himself about all the things he'd like to do to her, it made my grip on the bags tighten and my eyes narrow. I had lied to her about him though, I hadn't been looking for him - not at all. I had been looking for somebody else and just happened to stumble across the two of them that night. I didn't regret killing him though, it was second nature to me now.

"You could have taken her to a hotel, dear friend," Vince told me, shooting me a look I couldn't understand. "So why didn't you?"

"The thought didn't even occur to me." I admitted, walking down the path and reaching my front door.

"Right, well this conversation can be picked up again later as I have lots of questions," Vince said, entering the house behind me and shutting the door. "We have some torture to attend to."

We headed straight up the stairs and had just entered the library when Violet stepped out of the one place I never wanted her to see. Her eyes immediately locked on mine but she didn't look happy. In fact, she looked angry.

"Uh oh, trouble in paradise." Vince spoke in a sing song voice, far too amused. I'd have punched him if I knew it would get him to shut up because it was more likely to spur him on further.

Both Violet and myself ignored him but I did hand him the carrier bags I had in my hand. He took them from me just in time because when I turned to face Violet, she was suddenly in front of me with her hand raised, like she was going to slap me straight across the face.

Grabbing her hand, I pulled her towards me so she was flush against me and grinned down at her. "Too slow, beautiful."

Trying to keep up her angry facade wasn't working too well because the second I had finished speaking, she was fighting a smile and she ducked her head so I couldn't see.
