The next day, Benjamin took me hunting. To say I was shocked when he told me his plans was an understatement; I never expected him to allow me to leave the mansion he resided in. In the six days that I had been here, I'd never been able to step one foot outside the front door, and now he was taking me hunting.

"I want you to stay away from Lukas." Benjamin said as we walked through the forest to a nearby camp site. From what I gathered of where the mansion was, we were nowhere near a city or town. I actually had no idea where we were since there was nothing I could identify. The mansion was well and truly in the middle of nowhere, which only made me more cautious because of all the horror films I had watched. Nothing good happens to those that live inside a home in the middle of nowhere.

My head snapped to the side, meeting Benjamin's stern expression. "Excuse me?"

"Stay away from Lukas. I want you to keep your distance from him." He said slowly, as though speaking to a child with limited speech capabilities.

"Why?" I didn't understand. Lukas was the only one that actually made an effort to speak to me. Those chocolate brown eyes matched his hair perfectly, and he had aura about him that had me feeling calm in his presence. So to be told to stay away from the only person to make me feel the slightest bit comfortable in the mansion, well, it was confusing to say the least. Then again, I probably should have expected it.

He was the complete opposite to Benjamin.

While the hybrid was beguiling, Lukas was the opposite. Benjamin lured people in with his good looks because despite the scar on his face, he was still attractive. Lukas, however, had an innocence about him that Benjamin could never achieve. While Lukas' eyes held warmth, Benjamin's dark ones seemed to bleed hatred when directed at anyone he cared little for.

Myself included, though he claimed to be working on that too.

"He has an ability I don't want you to fall victim to."

Great, just what I need, I thought sarcastically, a vampire on his side with an ability. It was bad enough having the vampire, Blaine, living with us because he'd made it clear I was more than welcome in his bed.

What was it with the males all thinking they were going to get me in their bed? Or were they just enjoying making me uncomfortable because they all knew Benjamin had claimed me? Either way, I hated it.

"What can he do?"

"For every ten vampires, there are usually only two with an ability." Benjamin completely ignored my question, looking away at the trees as we continued walking. "Shadow has the ability of healing. Lukas can do something else."

"Is that supposed to scare me?"

Benjamin laughed, a loud laugh that left me standing frozen in the middle of the forest, gaping at him with my mouth open. When he realised I was no longer walking by his side, he paused and glanced back, a wicked grin stretching across his face when he saw me. "Keep that mouth open and I'll be tempted to fill it with something."

I quickly started walking again, my face scrunched up. "You're disgusting."

"We're nearly there." Benjamin didn't appear the least bit offended by my comment, thankfully. I couldn't seem to hold my tongue when it came to his remarks; if I wasn't killing him a thousand different ways in my mind, I was saying things that would probably have him using those thousands different ways on me ─ literally. So far, however, he hadn't laid a finger on me since he agreed to try.

Honestly, I was a bit sceptical. His moods changed so dramatically it was difficult to keep up, especially when I consider the fact he was looking at the face of the one who murdered the love of his life. If I had been in the company of Shadow's killer, I would not be so calm, that's for sure. I would probably be like Benjamin had been when he first brought me here. Inflicting pain upon pain upon pain. I certainly wouldn't be sharing a bed with them, feeding them and giving them reading material so they wouldn't be bored in the confines of the mansion.
