His hand was on my thigh. It had started by with him touching my knee, stroking my skin in slow circles, gradually creeping higher up my thigh. He was staring at me as he continued to touch me, almost as if he was waiting for me to snap at him, but I wouldn't give him the satisfaction I knew would follow. Even though his touch had me wishing I could snap his fingers in half as I called him every name under the sun, I knew better than to anger him.

We were seated at the dinner table in a large house ─ that was more like a mansion really ─ in an undisclosed location, making my chances of escape even more difficult to pull of. That was only a small factor though because I was determined to escape one way or another, especially if Benjamin was going to continue touching me the way he was. I either risk escaping or risk trying to kill him and I knew that wouldn't end in my favour; trying to kill a hybrid would only result in my own death.

"What's wrong, little flower?" Benjamin asked, a look in his eyes that had me leaning back slightly. It was like he was daring me to speak out about his actions and unfortunately, I knew better than to get on his bad side again. I was still feeling the pain from what he had done to me earlier, and I was in no hurry to have to endure that again.

I had only been here 4 hours and 23 minutes ─ I'd been counting. I didn't regret trading places with Ric, taking solace in the fact he was safe, but I was anxious to get the hell out of here. Now that I knew exactly what he had planned for me, down to the very last detail, I was eager to get the hell away from him before he could act on his wishes. He'd also given me a set of rules, ones I had to abide by if I wanted to remain alive. If I were to disobey him, I would die. If I were to disrespect him, I would die. If I were to try escape, I would die.

If I stepped a toe out of line, I would die.

Instead of answering him, I averted my gaze, staring down at my plate. I'd already drank the glass of blood he had handed to me, as well as having eaten the food he'd had his cook prepare but I still hadn't been allowed to leave the table. I was stuck in his presence until he decided otherwise.

"I asked you a question, Violet." Benjamin spoke up, displeased by my silence, but I just didn't want to risk opening my mouth and saying the wrong thing. It was better to let him believe I had accepted my fate than have him constantly on guard, knowing I would try to leave when I saw an opportunity.

"Nothing is wrong." I answered sharply, digging my nails into the palm of my hand as his squeezed my thigh.

"Then perhaps we should take this to our bedroom." He suggested, as though the idea might actually be something I would be interested in.

"Our?!" My jaw dropped, eyes widening considerably.

"Yes, little flower," His eyes gleamed in obvious lust, gaze dropping to my chest before flickering back to my eyes. "I told you already. You are mine now. You will be staying with me."

Just when I thought things couldn't possibly get any worse, I was now expected to sleep with him. Though I knew I had brought this on myself by agreeing to the deal in the first place, I would rather be here than Ric, knowing he was probably beaten and tortured. Yet the thought of belonging to Benjamin, my body his to do with what he pleased, I would rather take my chances and stake him through the heart because the thought of staying in the same bed as him had unpleasant shivers running up my spine.

"I am not yours!" I snapped, spurred on by the anger I felt. Nobody had the right to touch my body without my consent and he would never get that from me. Screw being timid and polite, I thought to myself, standing up quickly, the chair I'd been sitting on toppling over. "I will never be yours! The only reason I am here is because I was saving Ric."
