SHADOW's POV
I kept a tight grip on the bag that contained the present for Violet, a sense of happiness flowing throughout my body. Recalling the day we went hunting, I still couldn't quite believe she loved me. It had been difficult for me to believe I would ever find love because of the things I had done in my past but I had found that in Violet and I truly couldn't be happier.
I didn't even care how fucking whipped I sounded either, I was in love with her.
Ever since that day, I admit I found it hard to keep my hands to myself, more so than ever. It had always been a struggle because she's just so fucking gorgeous but now, I didn't care to hold back. Just thinking of her moaning beneath me had me hurrying to get back home; I craved her in ways I'd never craved another person and maybe, we would be able to have some more alone time before everybody else got back.
Rose and Ric had gone somewhere training, getting her ready to fight in case the hybrid turned up unexpectedly. Alec and Leah had gone with them, though I knew they didn't want to help Rose; neither of them particularly liked her. I couldn't say much because if she wasn't Violet's best friend, I'd probably have killed her myself, to be honest.
The fact the hybrid hadn't turned up, hadn't given any indication he was going to attack had tensions running higher than ever. I couldn't fathom out the reason as to why he hadn't attacked yet; it had been days since we were expecting it to happen. The fact Violet had killed one of the vampires he had on his side should only have made him more eager to attack because if the grimoire was that important to him - and I could understand why it was - then shouldn't he have attacked by now? I hated not knowing because the longer we had to wait, the more I thought that he was planning something. What that could be exactly, I had no fucking idea.
I was incredibly proud that Violet had defended both her and Ric, managing to take down another vampire in the process. I knew she still got a little upset when she had to take a life, even though I'd continuously tried to reassure her there was no other way. This wasn't fucking Twilight, after all, we couldn't survive on animal blood. Well, maybe if you that determined not to kill anybody but sooner or later, you'd slip. You just couldn't beat human blood.
While I was proud of her, I was also worried about her too. She hadn't spoken about her mother since that day, neither of the old couple and I knew she was still grieving over them. She had a good heart so I knew it would be a while before she would be able to move past it all.
Vince had also been MIA lately. Nobody could find him and nobody could reach him when they tried calling - and we all tried. He just didn't answer and that was worrying. Vince, being a hybrid himself, could have been a lot of help so not having him around was frustrating. Violet had even confessed that she missed having him around, even though he frequently enjoyed teasing her.
Whatever Vince was doing, it had better be good or I was going to kill him myself for not telling us where he was going. Then again, Vince had always been the type to just up and leave whenever he wanted to, not giving a shit about what he was leaving behind so maybe that's all he'd done this time. It was possible but as he's my oldest friend, not knowing where he was or what he was up to did have me worried.
By the time I'd reached my home, all I wanted to do was pull Violet into my arms and kiss her because she had the ability to make me feel better about anything. She was always able to alleviate my fears, without me even having to voice them most of the time.
So when I got inside, calling her name only to be met with silence, I frowned. She hadn't told me she was going anywhere; in fact, she told me she was looking forward to having the place to herself for a change. She'd even told me to hurry back so that we'd have some time alone before our friends arrived, time alone being something I'd been looking forward to.
