"A-After you." Scott stutters, making a move to open the cafe door.

"Why, thank you, Scotty." Mitch smirks, pecking Scott on the cheek before walking in.

Scott blushes furiously, before following Mitch into the cafe.

Being polar opposites, it was a miracle that Mitch Grassi himself had said yes to a date with Scott. There was nothing wrong with the boy; he was very handsome and excelled in his academics.

The only problem is, he's a stuttering mess whenever he's around Mitch.

You can only imagine how hard it was for him to voice his feelings, let alone ask the boy out. But, with a lot of help and probing from Kirstie, he finds himself now waiting in line for lunch with his dream boy, their fingers intertwined.

"What do you want? I mean, to order?"

"Hmm..." Mitch licks his lips. Scott's heart skips a beat.

"I'm thinking a panini. You?"

"Maybe just a salad, or soup." Scott softly smiles, meeting Mitch's eyes.

"Salad? Is that the secret to keeping a body like yours?" Mitch teases, and Scott chuckles awkwardly once again, red in the face.

"Fine. You get a salad, and we can split my panini. How's that sound?"

"Sounds like heaven." Scott sighs, not completely realizing what he just said.

Mitch laughs. "Oh, Scotty, you are too cute." He leans his head on Scott's shoulder as they take one step up in the line.

"Oh, God, please let Mitch not feel how my heart rate soars." Scott pleads silently.

Eventually they order their food, and find a small booth in the corner next to the window.

"So, Scotty, tell me about yourself. All I really know about you is you have a killer voice and random facts Kirstie has mentioned." Mitch sips at his milkshake.

"Well...I, um," Scott begins, but finds it hard to concentrate given the way Mitch's pink, perfectly plump lips wrap around the slim straw-

"Can't think of anything? I'm sorry, I put you on the spot. Kirstie said you were a shy one. I just wanna know the basics; hobbies, dreams, family structure," Mitch pops a fry into his mouth, "anything really."

Scott clears his throat. "I- um- well, you already know where I work. I like to, um, draw, actually. I have two sisters, and my mom and dad live here in Texas. One of my sisters, Lauren, actually just had a kid-"

"A kid!" Mitch exclaims, "what's it's name?"

"His name is Landon, yeah. Do you- do you want to see a picture?"

"Um, yes?" Mitch grins, and Scott fumbles for his phone, clicking on the first picture he saw of him with the baby. Mitch coos.

"He's precious! Ugh, I usually hate kids, but these are their prime years. How old is he? Two?"

"Yeah." Scott smiles as he puts away the phone. He takes the first sip of his drink.

"So, do you want kids?" Scott chokes on his Sprite, and Mitch's eyes widen.

"Woah, you okay?" Mitch asks as Scott holds his chest.

"Yeah, I'm fine. You just gave me a near heart attack thinking of starting a family with you."

"Yes." Scott pats his mouth with a napkin, flushed.

"Sorry, I know that was a weird question-"

"No, no. It was just, sudden. But, yeah, I do want kids. A big family of them."

"Sounds horrid." Mitch jokes, and Scott laughs along.

"Well, given I don't know your family backstory, I can't blame your views on the fact that you're an only child." Scott playfully bites back. He's almost surprised by his own playfulness.

"No, actually. I have a secret sister that I never tell anyone about. But, she's uninvolved and unconcerned, so..." Mitch trails off, grabbing another fry to cover his fallen mood.

Scott feels a surge of confidence spurred by sympathy, and slides his hand across the table to lay on top of Mitch's.

"I don't know what happened, and it's not my place to ask, but I'm, um, I'm sorry." Scott offers, looking into those once intimidating brown eyes, but now have softened.

Mitch turns his hand over underneath Scott's, and laces his fingers between his.

"It's okay. It'll all work out, right?"

Now, don't ask Scott why, but somehow he felt like that was the assurance he needed for an entirely different reason.

"Yeah," Scott smiles,

"Yeah, it will."
