Prompt: Mitch was nervous about his date, so like any best friend would, he brought Scott along.

Big mistake.

"Mitchy?" He whispers from across the room.

I close my eyes tighter.

"Mitchy?"

"Scott, go to sleep." I curl deeper into the covers of my bed.

"I feel like you're still mad at me."

"I'm not mad, Scott. Now go to sleep before I find something to actually be mad about."

He sighs, and finally shuts up.

For a moment.

"I tried to bring you back into the conversation, I really did-"

"Scott," I groan, "this is not a conversation that I want to be having right now. All I want is some peace and quiet. Can you do that?"

"Okay..." He trails off.

"He wasn't even that attractive-"

"Scott! Fucking hell, go to bed. I don't really give a flying fuck about Brendon or his blatant interest in you. I don't really give a flying fuck about how you feel about him. I don't really give a flying fuck about anything except for a full 8 hours of sleep so I can be ready for the show tomorrow. So, for the love of God, would you be quiet?" I hiss at him, eyes still shut tight in prayer that he could hear my tiresome plea.

Finally, there is no reply.

I scoot down to get comfy, curling my knees up to my chin.

I can't even bring one guy out to dinner without him falling head over heels for Scott. It's like I'm one of the evil stepsisters and he's Cinderella. What I think is mine ends up being his.

It's reasonable, though. Scott's charming, beautiful, handsome, smart, sophisticated, not socially awkward. I'm just a lump of overpriced clothing and social anxiety-

"I love you."

I huff in annoyance. I can't even lower my own self esteem without him being the sweet, caring bastard that he is.

"I'd love you a bit more if you would stop talking." and let me degrade myself in peace!

I hear shuffling.

"Scott, please no." I wine, but he's already wrapping his arms around my waist from behind.

"I know I'm an idiot about most things, but the one subject I'll never fail in is knowing Mitch Grassi. You're beautiful, smart, talented, photogenic, kind, caring, confident, and considerate. Don't you dare compare yourself to anyone else or change yourself for anyone else, okay?" He mumbles into my back, and I've never wanted to hate him more. His words made my tummy feel all funny in all the right ways.

"Okay." I whisper, a small smile on my lips. I trail my hand over to his and squeezing it assuringly.

"Can we go to sleep now?"

"Yes. Do you want me to go back to my bed?" He begins to move. I pull him back down.

"No, you can stay."
