          Chapter 8

"What did you mean when you said, 'I'm very sorry I put you in so much pain'," I ask. His eyes widen.

"I...I meant I'm sorry someone so heartless would put you in so much pain," he lied.

We still sat on my bed, me in his arms. He wasn't telling me something, but I wasn't going to pressure him to go on. He would tell me soon enough. It was quite for a long time. If Tami is Aaron were here, we would be laughing, but they aren't.

     "Hungry," I ask Tristan.

I look up at him, his mind elsewhere. I touch his cheek with the back of my hand. He stared at the floor.

"Tristan," I say again. He shook his head and looked at my, both eye brows raised. "Do you want breakfast," I ask.

"Yeah, that would be great," he said.

We descend down the stairs and to the kitchen. There, Richard flipped pancackes as happy as can be, while my mom made mugs of coffee. They seem so happy together, I'd hate to see them be separated from each other. Richard didn't feel like a stranger to me at all, he seemed more like a dad. My new dad.

"Who's that," Tristan whispered into my ear.

"He's my mom's boyfriend, or my new dad," I say not taking my eyes off of them.

"I hope he treats you like a real daughter," he said.

"Morning, sleepyheads, how'd you two sleep," my mom said to us.

"Great. Morning, mom," I say kissing her cheek. "Morning, dad," I say to Richard, kissing his cheek. He froze at that.

"Dad," he asked, looking over his shoulder to me.

     "Yup, dad. Don't like it?"

"No, I love it. Pop a squat, breakfast will be ready soon," he said.

I took a seat at the island. Tristan sat to my left. My mom set our four mugs on the island.

     "Where's Mason," I ask.

"He never came home last night," my mom said. "See if you can contact him."

I pull out my android and start to text him.

     To: Mason

     "Hey, were u @?"

     To: Mason

     "Did u find her?"

     To: Mason

"Y the fuck r u not picking up!?! Reply, Bitch!"

I didn't care if I was blowing his phone up. He should answer. I gave up after the tenth text. After I shoved some of my pancake pieces into my mouth, Mason's ringtone came up on my phone. Dad stared at me with a curious look, eyebrow raised and everything. I blushed and looked at the text.

     From: Mason

"Found her! I'm @ her place. Mayb I don't wanna pick up! I ran into her at the mall yesterday, had a hunch."

     "No way," I yell.

"What," my mom says excited, looking at the text.

We both screamed and jumped around holding hands. The guys both looked at us like we were on drugs. So what, we looked like retards. My best guy friend found his mate! He's in love!

"Um...would you two tell us what's going on,"  dad and Tristan said in sync.

"Mason found his mate," mom and me yelled in sync.

"No way! Now can we finish our pancakes," Tristan said full of sarcasm going back to his breakfast. I glared at him, he smiled back.

"What if your dad did that to you when you found me? How would you feel," I ask crossing my arms in front of my chest.

"I'd feel sad, worthless, and not wanted," he said sad.

"Exactly. But he's not, he's proud of you," I say.

"How do you know," he asked looking at me.

"My biological father always put me down. He was never proud of me," I say sitting down in my seat.

"Well, Daniél, I'm proud of you. You found your mate," dad said.

"You don't have to call me Daniél, just call me Dani," I say to him. He was like a real dad.

"We should finish our breakfast. Your father and I have to go the work in about an hour," my mom informed just as the doorbell rang.

     "I got it," I say.

I jumped out if my seat and rand over to the door. I opened it hoping to find Mason, but found some one else.

     "Hello, Daniél."
